I do remember at one point J releasing statements about ICP going in to hiatus, possibly for good, because Shaggy had become more religious, and was focusing on his family, J was at the point where he would have to choose whether to carry on ICP without him, or completely stop because he couldn’t really imagine ever doing it.

So I think at some point Shaggy might have just been done, and only carried on for the sake of the business, but there’s no telling if that is the case, maybe things changed in his personal life, and he became fully dedicated again, but who knows.

I agree though, they were homies before the paint, and have worked together so long, they are probably just brutally honest about each other, and don’t care what people think the way families tend to do.
