Just listened to Wizard of the hood all the way through for the first time in 10 years and I forgot how good J  can actually rap.  Never heard him use so many multis and have such a good flow before or after this. I never thought i’d say  it but Mike P then > Mike E now. Appreciate!

i still cant say that.  not even close.

i will grant though, that wizard of the hood was about the best mike p ever pulled off.  but i suspect that j had a much larger hand in the sound of that ep.

  awfully paranoid, arent you?

I think on woth, and both wraith albums plus black rain J really tried to rap and not just rely on being unique on the mic.

Mike E has done way more than Mike P, I don’t see how you can compare the two. The remix songs that Mike E did from The Wraith I liked more than the Mike E versions of those songs, always loved both The Wraith albums but seriously have to wonder how they would have sounded if Mike E was behind the boards.

It might be blasphemous but I prefer mike ps shit. not to take away from mike clark but his sound has been stale to me for a few years now. From a creative standpoint I think itd do icp good to get a different prod for each album if they really want to vary the sound. Just like a good author there is almost a signature sound that mike clark has that cant or shouldnt be replicated

I like mike clark and mike P.both did great jobs on their albums.I really hated the wraith remix albums though, I thought they were terrible.I agree with slum.Icp needs to change their shit up a bit cuz its getting kinda stale.I still dig most of their stuff but they need a fresh new ear to hook them up.joe strange would be dope.abominatioz was amazing.best shit to come out of psy in some time.

I dig both mikes. Hard to really compare the 2. I dont think a joe strange icp album would work too well. Hes great at what he does, its just not my style and i dont think joe and icp are all that compatible.

I’ve always said, Mike P. was hit or miss. When he missed, it sucked pretty bad. But when he hit? That guy made magic.

Mike E. Clark, talented bastard that he is, sounds sort of stale now. At least on ICP albums. Granted, that could very well be because of the direction J wants and the beats he chooses.

But seriously, according to the old RealJuggalos tidbits section, on TFTLP Mike P did:

  • Ali Baba
  • Hurt Myself
  • Call Upon Your Gods
  • Swarm

When the guy nailed it, he nailed it.

Oh, and on the original topic, WOTH remains my favorite Psy release to date. So, you know, there’s that.

Sittin down in my crack house earnin my pay, it’s the southwest juggla claimin delray, violent J! Fucking LOVE woth. Pure magic man. Still wish theyd done a WOTH musical type deal. That would be some highly sought after shit. Oh, and shiny diamonds is prolly the greatest fucking feel good song to come out of psy ever. Possibly anywhere ever.

I feel like that song is referenced more on here then alot of others…I can think of at least three occasions where ninjas including myself have quoted a line from that song…just because I then went and posted the you tube video directly after…its a testament to how many people keep it in the back of their heads…

QUESTION: Will there or could there ever be a possibility of a Wizard of the Hood film, video or tour? Ive been down with the hatchet for alot of years and ive followed it all, i think Wizard of the Hood was super fuckin fresh, itd be nice to see like a short film or video or possibly a full blown stage tour! Thanks for takin the time to read this homies. Shout outs to the Quad City juggalo fam!
– Cory

ANSWER: I know you will probably hate or not understand this answer but I believe what makes Wizard of The Hood so dope is how it plays out in your mind when you hear it. I think if we made one long video for it that it just wouldn’t be as cool as it shows in your mind. If we do anything, it will be a concert type stage play to it. That could be cool, with the set behind us changing to match the song. That will probably happen one day. Don’t worry, we still got the rest of our lives. Just because that record is older now don’t mean it won’t still happen. I like to think Juggalos don’t care about time. It’s like at the Gathering. A lot of the acts we have playing are considered old school or whatever, but to Juggalos we don’t give a fuck if something is outdated or played out to society. We don’t pay attention to what’s currently hittin’ in society. I like to think we have our own charts and they are timeless.

How could you not man? That song can get you through anything. I was just talking to a guy at PT yesterday who just got back from bootcamp and I asked him if he cried while he was there. I asked because I expect to cry a few times lol. He said he cried, and he doesnt know one guy that didnt, and that 9 out of 10 times it was home sickness. And the second he said that, “there aint much goin on but that’s where I belong, cus some them days be shiny diamonds” started playin out in my head. I guarantee i’ll think of that song while im there.
