The Marines that I know are really smart. My friend Paul, smartest dude I know, served in Marine Corps. I don’t say ex-marine because there are no such things to them, once a Marine always a Marine. They made him take all sorts of classes, Marines sure aren’t dumb my friend. They’re also not anyone to get on the wrong side of, they’ll break your arms before you even hit the ground, no shit. Great friends, but worst enemies to have. 

I have respect for all branches of service, the Coast Guard and Air Force definitely have their place too. My father was in the Coast Guard, so I take a little bit of offense to that. He was drafted and the Coast Guard was the only place with room for him, he didn’t even know if it counted if he served there. But he did his time, and I’m proud of him for that. No one in the Coast Guard gets all gung ho like the Marines do, but they definitely serve a purpose. All branches of military deserve respect.

I drove a recycling truck on the NC AFB for three years. A lot of those AF Guys hated me because if my freedom as a civilian or something. There were a few cool ones, mainly the women. My half sister was in AF and she is mostly cool.

The Marines I know, three of them, two men and one woman, vary in their personalities. My boss at one job is Marine. He is senile and prone to senseless outbursts, but can be nice. The woman is fucking gorgeous, talks nonstop and excersises like a drug addiction. She was one of my students last year, easily the most disciplined and best work ethic of them all.. and the friend of mine in Nc, man what a unique character. They called him Angel because he was like the only virgin Marine on earth. Now that he is out, he sells chainsaws and firewood, drinking beer and toking herb every night. This guy is indescribable, you have to meet him to believe him lol. I wish him the best.

Anyway what I’m getting at is even with the military ingrained in them, people are still individuals. No branch is better or worse, just different. My brother RIP was a Guard Lieutenant, and he was a thieving, lying instigating ass, God bless his soul.

No, I teach college students in a darkroom at my old community college, but I’m not officially a teacher. Although other professors say I have “the teacher vibe”. I don’t agree lol. . But we specialize in Black & White photography courses. I’ve done it PT for over four years. I graduated in May 2012, but still work there.I get paid, but not much, and they cut my hours by six last semester. I should be starting up this semester in a week. Our NY minimum wage just went up so that’s a plus.

I call them “my students” even though sometimes they are older than me lol. But that’s what they are, and they look up to me.

I also work for a cleaning company. That’s my main income, but the darkroom satisfies me in ways that grunt work cannot. Plus it has tons of perks. 

Just turned 30 on the 15th.
