I dig hoodoo in general. Crystal skull was too laid back at first but once i seen him live I really liked it. Asylum i loved from the jump.
This song is straight up garbage. He punches in for every line. It’s awkward and uncomfortable. Zero flow.
The lyrics are whack as shit, the hook is whack, the beat is whack, the guitar is cool but wasted.
1/10 will never bump again

Hoodoo ain’t Eazy Noah, I’m pretty sure, almost absolutely certain, the man didn’t punch in every bar. A lot of rappers who wing it and freestyle entire verses, Wayne..Jay-Z…Big..ect..ect..tend to punch in lines, doest necessarily mean they suck though. Different processes for different artist I suppose.

You can hear it how he comes in on the lines. There’s no carry over in his voice from one line to the next.
It’s like they wanted to speed up his flow but he’s still not fast. Which I don’t mind. I like his kinda chill vibe. Even when he’s angry like boom boom piggy it’s not all up in the anger like icp get.
Still looking forward to the next album but this won’t get saved to my playlist.

I wouldn’t say zero flow, just, an off flow, a weird flow. Kind of like some of Bushwick’s songs (I think he’s the one that raps around the beat sometimes) it can work in a weird way so long as it sounds intentional, and I think it does here. Playing/singing off beat is nothing new, and its not done because of lack of talent, anyone who thinks that has never tried to play an off beat quarter note triplet (hint, its fucking impossible) I’m not saying that the way he’s off the beat makes the song better, I’m just saying its intentional.

Intentional or not, it sounds like shit and isn’t used in any sort introspective way.
And like I said, I typically enjoy his stuff and will likely continue to do so but this ain’t the look.

As far as the traditional deals go you could be on to something because this is allegedly dropping on ‘Ear Drug Music’, Ouija’s Water damage is on ‘Rotten Cake’ and Lyte..is..uhhhh…
Not everything has to be conscious rap, sometimes you just want a riding song, and this is it.
I saw you speak on Bushwick Bill from the group the Ghetto boys, who are responsible for influencing ICP just about as much as Esham, that made me want to say the main trombone sound on this song is actually sampled from Willie D’s YouTube channel, it’s the intro song on all of his videos.

Im not arguing with this but when he does a “nonsense” track or just a general “brag” track, its never clever or super catchy. Look at 2001, that whole album is just typical west coast, bragging, gangsta rap and (again imo) doesnt have a skippable track. If you’re gonna make something with no substance, it better bang. Unfortunately I cant see me remembering this song in 2 months.

Did you know that some those dubstep people from several years ago used some of the same techniques as some of the most revered classical composers? Specifically stuff like playing a melody between different instruments. But those vapid dubstep songs don’t hold a candle to actually well thought out music (not that its just talentless, it just has less thought behind it, its too linear 90% of the time).
When somebody does something similar to something else, even if one of them isn’t good and the other one is, I can still point it out. And I don’t think this song is bad enough to feel insulted by this
