Finished it a few days ago. I refused to shell out coin for it, though, based on what everybody else was saying about it initially. I can forgive a Juggalo e-book for being sloppily editted, but I doubt this was even proofread. I say that because the last two chapters overlap and repeat with conflicting information (how much money was in that majik account, 1500 or 900? And why omit the ramble about wanting to fuck up that ex of yours you were so in love with if you’re gonna otherwise copy the story word for word in the next chapter? Fuck outta here.) For me that’s inexcusable.

Book snobbishness aside, it wasn’t without its charms. It’s more of a tour journal than a memoir, and a good supplement to Behind the Paint in terms of showing what the industry and road life is like from the grunt’s perspective. He switches between the aspects of his personal and professional life and back suddenly, but it actually comes across as very sincere, like having a conversation with somebody at a bar.

It actually reminds of the old Masked Ninja posts on ICP’s website from the old days. You can tell he’s a product of that nineties to mid thousands era in his style with tried and true ICPisms like “pickle buff” “gettin skins” and “roast beef curtains” used often and unironically. It’s weirdly nostaglic, especially since it runs through he various eras leading up to The Sixth.

The picture Dub paints of himself borders on sympathetic. It comes across that he’s a hard working, flawed guy with a good work ethic, passion for what he does, not a lot sense and terrible communication skills. He credits a lot of his frankly baffling professional mistakes to the fact that he was never promoted to a Psychopathic Don, but I can’t help but wonder if that was a goal that existed in his head and not so much a carrot they had dangling from a stick. It’s like, you wanna feel bad for him, but then he goes off about he wants to hit a bitch with a brick cuz she wouldn’t let him hit it and you’re like eh, no big loss.

I remember rolling them A.J.B. street team vans into the worst ghettos and Tom Cox paying the dirtiest, nastiest crack whores, $7 for a blow job.  He was fucked up! locolocoloco! ! !

I read the free chapters off Amazon and couldn’t fathom reading the rest.

So for those who did my question is: What happened between Dub and Twiztid? Did he steal money from Majik and why?

According to the memoir it goes a little something like this:

Twiztid had Tom Dub open a bank account to store capital for the Majik record label that they were trying to get off the ground, with each camp putting in $10,000 as an initial investment. In the begining stages they had an office, some off-Psy Twiztid merch, a faulty website and little else. They were in the early phases of scouting for talent, but it never got that far. Both Twiztid and Dub were still working under Psychopathic at the time, but Dub was on the outs over there for numerous professional failings and not being able to work as reliably for Psy because of his focusing on Twiztid, which lead to a phone call where he said ‘Fuck Psychopathic’, effectively ending his career there. He says he regrets saying it.

Around this time there was a meeting about Twiztid’s future on the Hatchet. Twiztid opted to stay with the label and, according to Tom Dub, threw him under the bus for the Majik fuckery. Their plan was to still release music under Psy while putting out their own artists, or something. Either way, following this and a disasterous booking for Twiztid at a metal festival, Monoxide told Tom Dub he was handing the Majik management reigns over to this other guy, effectively firing him from that gig too. Tom allegedly requested a return for the money he put up and was apparently told to suck one, so he broke with the remaining Majik budget. A paltry sum compared to his initial investment, but he names two different figures so you really can’t tell how truthful he’s being. He tries to downplay his scumminess, but Twiztid is anecdotally shady, so I guess the truth is somewhere in between.
