I like the songs.  I think the production is crappy.

you just pointed out something that I had always noticed subconsciously but you pointed out perfectly with “Terrible”. It had potential to be one of their most poignant tracks. But it was overly trebled out and messy. Similar to “I Want My Shit” near the end.

Yeah, I don’t think it’s bad, it’s just loud I suppose. If I have shuffle with my headphones, I’ll have Beverly Kills on or some shit, I’ll have it on full blast just to somewhat have it loud, I’ll be somewhat dozed off, then Terrible comes on and all I hear is “MOTHERFUCKER” and I’m like “JESUS FUCKIN’ CHRIST”.

Also can I say gang rags and south of hell were pretty awful plus he had the worst beats on Krimson kreek and I hated the tempest. My favorite Mike e clarke beats were those girtty ones like confessions,12, how many times, boogy woogy woo. dont get me wrong i enjoyed plenty of other shit he has done i just think he shines in those.

speaking of production what ever happened to fritz eric davie and joe strange?

If I remember correctly, Fritz stole tons of shit from this music group The Midnight Syndicate that produces these ambient/spooky sounding tracks, and he put it on a ton of Psy shit he worked on. Next thing you know Psy is being sued for like, a few million dollars over copywrite infringement. So yeah, that’s what happened to fritz.

i believe both of those tracks are credited to mike p.

lets be real, though…  those midnight syndicate samples probably happened because the cds were sittin around the lotus pod.

still a dumb choice, in my opinion, whoevers decision it was to use em.

steal smart, for fucks sake.  cant just copy and paste, gotta massage that shit some.  mec tends to disguise the samples he uses quite a bit better than that.

  awfully paranoid, arent you?

yeah it was Mike P. Maybe he crumbled under the pressure of trying to repeat the originality of Shangri-La’s sound. It was insane to take those melodies and try to get away with it for free. It fucked up a lot of Hell’s Pit for me. Still love the album, but, sigh..

Wait, does that mean the Hell’s Pit Remix Album is more original than the original?

MEC ain’t no saint, either.

did hot chocolate sue?  no?  then your point is irrelevant.

they almost certainly paid for that.  and boston.  and led zepplin.

those samples are way too clear and obvious to expect to skate.  no chance.

im sure mec has been nailed before for sumn.  everybody gets nailed.

but i know of no examples.  definitely none that ended in lawsuits.

All you gotta do is pay the OG artist, though, and you’re fine.

unless the og artist dont like you.  all they gotta do is say ‘no’.

  awfully paranoid, arent you?

MEC’s absence is immense. the overall quality of ICPs shit is far superior when he’s behind the boards.

the first time he left it pretty much ruined the sixth jokers card (imo, neither album is close to what they could have been if MEC was on the production) & its also taken missing link down a few notches…”lost” especially sounds extremely messy. not mixed/mastered or produced close to as good as their old shit.i love seven & am always down for his production on any project, but hes clearly not given icp his best work…not that you can blame him when he’s responsible for the majority of the strange roster.

so yes, i am really missing MEC that much. (imo)Missing link would have been a far stronger project if he was involved & i hope to see him back for the next one.

Damn man, that cheapens and spoils TMDP for me. Thanks a lot Lucky. lmao

and fuck, I’m fucking up on my Psy lore.

I think the change is good, however I hope Mike comes back for the next “Joker’s Card” Young Wicked’s production on the Missing Link cds was a breath of fresh air. I thought the albums were dope, and the clowns needed to step outside of their comfort zone. In my opinion they were the best overall Cds they have put out since the original six. Having stepped outside the proverbial box however, they should turn right around and get back in that box with MEC for the fourth “Joker’s Card of the second deck”.
