I don’t think of ICP as musicians so I don’t think they’ll ever stop making music. They’re performance artists and they’ll always work. It’ll probably always be music related but it may not always be what it is today. They are getting old and J’s weight and depression go up and down. They’re people.

The thing that works for them is that theres no real need for them to be rappers. They started out wanting to be wrestlers and, if you think about it, they basically are a wrestling gimmick that involves music.

If the missing link sold zero copies and nobody showed up to the gathering and they just went flat broke, lost it all, and they had to work in a warehouse to feed their kids, they’d still find a way to make art. They’re too creative and too artistic not too. There’s too many ideas, and too much a desire to be something. Recording is cheaper, you can reach more of the world online. They’d figure it out. I’m not worried one bit. Any problems they face, they’ll adjust.

im sure you grasped this already, but what im saying is that it didnt used to be ‘optional’.

and the established market price was $0.00.

It used to be based on venue. For example at the venue i tend to see them, until about 2002 you could get on stage and stagedive. It was no big thing. After 2002, it stopped, if you tried, you got kicked out.

once VIP started up it was still on lockdown, but you could get up there if you cough up the dough

on the one hand im mad i cant do it no more. on the other, i cant blame them for making a buck if people are willing to pay 100 bucks to go on stage and throw faygo for 3 minutes. on the 3rd hand im almost 30 and dont feel like getting in the pit these days anyway haha

The only thing to me is that j sounds defeated. Listen to the new Psy Radio they have him on and interview him, and he sounds like he’s about to break down and cry to me. I think it’s just the way he talks but it sounds defeated to me.

J is not an idiot. He has to feel deeply ashamed of the fact he has let himself turn into an absolute tub of lard.

It can’t be a lot of fun carrying all that weight around.

The most important move the Hatchet could make is hiring a personal trainer for everyone on the label.

I’m a huge advocate for DDP Yoga.  And it’s something I could see J actually digging, being a wrestler/wrestling fan.

I second this. I tried it out after i broke my foot and put on too many pounds. It kicked my butt but if you can stick with it, its great. all low impact moves, good for those with a little extra weight

ultimately, this is whats really dumb about it.  but im not responsible for their finances.

im now chasing down forty, and im still happy to mix it up.

ive made the stage several times, and the floor is better, anyway.  except when the ‘vips’ take it upon themselves to not throw faygo.  i hate that shit.  anybody else ever see that?  the ninjas on stage tossin all the faygos, unopened, off to the side so they can take em home.  or pouring the faygos only on their own heads, instead of over the floor.

theres somethin very wack about a faygo armageddon where most of the faygo doesnt make it four feet into the crowd.

The original name of DDP Yoga was “Ain’t Your Mama’s Yoga” or something like that.  I did it for fun because I’m a fitness nut.  I’ve done that, P90X, boot camps, crossfit, distance running, weight lifting, MMA… you name it.

What I got from DDP Yoga… I did the diet and the workout.  I was eating less but never hungry.  My flexibility was good.  My strength was so so (compared to when I do actual strength training), my sex drive was through the roof, and it was fun and quick and easy.  My wife actually got me into it.  She was way into it.  She went to some of DDP’s sessions, where he would actually be in the room with you giving you pointers and helping out.  He invited us to go on this retreat in Mexico over the summer, but we never did it because my wife got pregnant.  Might try and see if he’s gonna do it again and go.

But yeah, I believe that’s the go-to starting point for anyone that thinks they’re beyond repair.

I take it you have seen the real life results on what it has done for scott hall and jake the snake roberts right? They told hall he would never walk again! after a hip replacement and training with DDP hes back out there lookin healthy and walkin around. yeah hes never gonna be razor ramon again, but so what?

I wonder if DDP is as nice a guy as he seems

oh dont get me wrong, I mix it up but 90% of the snow im watchin from the side enjoying the show instead of fighting for my spot by the stage like i used to.

i know what you mean about the FA though, it can be annoying when you are all there at the end of the show waiting for your faygo shower and they just tossing full bottles to their boys or spraying themselves each other on stage.

dont get me wrong, in the old days i got up on stage and ganked a full 2 liter of faygo cola (not diet) and i still have it in all its flat glory, along with a sleeve from santa that shaggy threw out haha

I actually saw some venues up till just the past few years where they didn’t boot you for stage diving. There’d be 100 people crowd surfing as it was so maybe they just didn’t notice? However, all the recent shows I’ve been to I haven’t even see ninjas attempt to get on stage until the end of the set.

In regards to your comment about being 30 and getting in the pit, damn you made it longer than me lol. I’m 25 and nowadays you can find my ass at the bar. I’ll spend quite a bit of time close to the front, but off to one side, but I just don’t see a need to get punched in the face anymore if I don’t have to.

Great thread. This is a big reason why I havent  been posting as much lately. Treading over the same ground and shit. As far as the new albums go, im not happy with the direction they are going but I still anticipate each release and listen with an open heart and mind. I love icp so much that ill shove the shit down my own throat even if I dont like it. I want this shit to be good, just most of it isnt  making me happy.

@slumerican502 , can we expect you and yours at the Gathering this year? I have yet to meet you in person, only online in Minecraft. It was funny last year with all the people wearing shirts that said “Slumerican” on the them. You were popular, lol.
