physical media, by the way, is the proper method.  fuck handin over money for ones and zeroes.

True, true...

But another thing to consider as a proponent of physical media is that a *produced* CD (as compared to an MP3 ripped from Youtube 'er some shit) is NOT COMPRESSED!

If everyone wants to cream over the sound from vinyl, people need to understand that MP3s (or 4s wtfever) are NOT the "true" sound of the recording. They're compressed audio. There's a whole range on frequencies MISSING! MP3s (and the like) are essentially simulations of what "they" think you "need" to be hearing when you "listen" to a song. Fuck if you want those deep mid-low sounds of a cello...! As long as you can hear those highs and "sub-bass" noises that rattle yer side panels... yer GOOD!

Self promotion not withstanding... A piece of physical media from a prominent record company is (presumably) supposed to be the "best" version that could have been made for it (these days).

You need to step your audio game up to flac.

Something special about having and holding something physical. Never bought into the whole digital stuff. It just isn't the same. The only digital thing I have ever bought was my PS plus pass and Boondox The Harvest because they want WAY TOO MUCH for it online.

Last I looked 40-50+ used. If you guys ever see one cheaper in decent shape let me know.

EDIT: Just found it in the 20's used. lol

Wow, shit, now I wish I'd kept my copy. I gave it away, along with most of my CD collection, years ago.

But flac is loss-less compression. Digital audio compressed by FLAC's algorithm can typically be reduced to 50–60% of its original size and decompress to an identical copy of the original audio data. There is absolutely 0 quality loss. It is identical to a CD.

Yeah dude shit is insane. He is my wifes favorite artist and I just don't know if I can justify that much for a used CD no matter what condition it is in you know?

no, it results in a physical sound wave that is of a quality level consistent with what a cd produces.  that aint the same thing as a cd.

cds dont vanish forever when the cd player goes tits up.

aint even the same fidelity as a cd...  but its close enough for most peoples ears that it dont matter.

including my ears.

but im still keepin the discs.  to keep a fully digital collection going is too damn much maintenance, when all i gotta do with my cds is not fuck em up.

Got to agree, like I said it isn't about the quality of the music for me. It is the idea of holding something in my hand and saying "I own this" and looking through the booklet or seeing my collection on my shelf.

To me it is just a special thing and something I prefer.

The physical cd has a magic to it that a MP3 will never have. ICP really knows how to give the fans more content than other bands when it comes to CDs and I can only hope the inserts will get back to being as full of mystery and bonus material as they used to be.

I like buying the jokers cards as they come out, but I don't have many still in physical form. Over the years, they got lost, lent out and never returned, broken, stolen, etc. I don't even own a real cd player anymore so all I got are rips of the cds on my computer for most of them.
