Psyral, the most basic definition of a politically conservative American is “one who does not want change”. Do you personally fear or not want change? If not, do you sometimes feel irked by being under the description of a political conservative? I lean mostly liberal on issues, not all, but I actually do not like the implications of being called a Liberal. Or a Libertarian, despite agreeing with much of Libertarian policies. 

I also believe in transparency of government. Mostly. 

I just hate anyone calling themselves a hardline whatever…. hardline Democrat, hardline Republican, etc… the world is more grey than that.

I’ve been homeless. Slept outside a library archway once. On a bench. In a tent. Stayed in a single room apartment where I had to share a kitchen and bathroom with awful strangers. When I had a lawsuit against my FedEx contractor and had to quit, I was the poorest I had been in years. My first daughter was on the way. We tried our damndest to get on our feet, but that’s a whole other story. We decided fuck it and tried WIC. They gave us lots of free peanut butter, milk, dried beans, and healthy cereal (Life was the tastiest choice). We then got food stamps for awhile. I eventually worked two jobs, as I had just graduated college at an older age. I was getting minimum wage with limited hours at one job and was being taxed to death at another, due to me being considered my own contractor by the owner. We saved up as much as we could. Decided to leave NY and go where the progress was, after my second was born. We took a chance with a no fail attitude. We’ve been completely off food stamps and WIC ever since moving to CO.This summer was rough financially, and we for the first time accepted a box of free food from the local community center. Now, the wife and I are both working full time again, my mom moved here and covers our child care for cheap, our oldest just started preschool, and I have all the weed I could ever ask for. 

My synopsis is that everyone has their own unique story. I have no shame in having had food stamps for that brief period. Also, my second brother died right as I was involved in the FedEx lawsuit. I went into shock for two days, then went back to work. In 2007 the same thing happened with my first brother, but I was out a week due to shock and travelling for the funeral. I went back to work despite realising I wasn’t ready psychologically, but I kept on going. Anyway, the story goes on and on, but what I’m getting at is that public assistance should be used as the temporary leg-up that we used it for. I’ve helped family and friends out financially and otherwise throughout life, and paid the government tons and tons of taxes. I consider everything balanced karmically, if there us such a force. I paid off all of my college debt, never took out a bank loan, always repay loans from folks on those rare occasions that I need help, give to charity, tip decent workers well when possible, and I hold the door open for that racist ass Aunt of yours. 

Politicians have come and gone during all of these ups and downs. It makes no difference who they are, and it won’t really unless we have a true tyrant in office. And then, the people and myself will not stand for it. I foresee either Hillary or Trump being impeached, assassinated or resigning or dying from natural causes. This election will be the one where somethiNg that has never happened before in our modern history, will occur. Something big is brewing on planet Earth.. be ready.

Have you ever watched the Dagon movie? It’s been a minute but I recall it being pretty good.

Ya know, we grew up at first in a literal shack. I could pen ten novels… but my dad was such a “proud” prick that he wouldn’t take any charity, other than beef from the farmers up the road for helping them here and there with electrical jobs. We were so damn poor, but when we’re kids I guess it doesn’t even become noticeable. I used to be too embarrassed to let anyone come to our shack, but looking back, the city kids were mostly just as poor if not poorer than us. We could’ve scrubbed through it all together, but I am a loner by nature anyway. I was fortunate jn ways they weren’t, like having the woods in my backyard, expensive clothes that my mom bought even though my dad flipped out and I didn’t want then anyway…. plus the stories that I accrued from living in an actual shack lol… let’s just say that people awaited my stories every morning before class about shit.. the opossum that scared the social worker away screaming, the bat my dad shot through our window then went back to sleep lol… the racoon that bit my rubber boot.

Me and my friend had a discussion about this because a few years back the original Jurassic Park photo with Spielberg went viral and there were people going around asking kids about it just like this (though they weren’t all falsely accused of being liberal to push propaganda) and we came to the conclusion that they only show the stupid people and that they will never show the people that know better.

I should test it though.

Right wingers wouldn’t get upset about someone hunting though. Only a liberal would be upset about hunting animals, extinct or otherwise. Generally speaking of course.

My mother was a teenager when I was born and we were on welfare when I was a kid.  She took advantage of government programs to go to college and got her shit together.  She says today that she never would have been able to do that without welfare and those programs.  For sure it would have been a whole lot rougher of a road for me if she hadn’t.  I make a decent living now, partly because I’ve worked for it but also partly because I’ve gotten some second chances that not everybody gets.  I’m happy to pay higher taxes for the kinds of programs that helped my mom, even if it some of it does go to waste on people who are taking advantage.
