I just wanted to pass along these EQ vocal mixing techniques that I use on my vocals.  You always want to roll off most of your low end frequencies (see my EQ below, far left).  That is the "mud" of the vocals that clashes with the low end of the beat.  This is how you can make your vocals cut through the beat.  Then bump up the high end (far end blue of EQ) that will make your vocals nice and crisp.  This is a great starting point to get your vocals on point and sounding perfect!

This is the compressor, very important on vocals.  Just take a look at the settings and that's a GREAT starting point on come clean vocals.  Of course, this is for my personal vocals and the microphone that I use, the settings may need to be changed a little to fit your personal vocals and your microphone.  The MAIN thing for vocal mixing is in the order shown below.  With reverb just use to your liking (some people like a lot some people just a little).  Lastly, with your delays there are a TON of different delays out there.  The one main thing is just set your delays to the SAME TEMPO as the beat, when you do that you will be golden!

This is how you want your effects to look like on each and EVERY vocal track.
1. EQ
2. Compression
3. Reverb - use to your liking
4. Delays - Sync to the tempo of the beat

lol you gotta start somewhere man.

my 'studio' consists of a computer, a set of studio cans, a hundred dollar usb mic a cheap midi keyboard and a beat sequencer ive had for nearly a year adn still ahvent been able to figure out.

just buy shit piece by piece.

although, top two things on your list should be good headphones (get closed back, youll have nearly no use for open back) and a halfway decent mic. i reccomend checking out audio technica headphones, the Mx50's, the around about 180 dollars and the quality is straight up incredible. for a entry level mic, get a blue snowball. its a usb condensor so its got all the interface software built into it.

thats what i use and sean law uses a blue snowball aswell. and he gets amazing quality out of it.
