@jiggles-the-clown while it may be correct that humanity began in Europe as the articles talk about the possible ancestral family of humans, the current scientific thought (until new evidence emerges) is that one of the last human population bottlenecks where only 1000 to 2000 humans were left alive after a major extinction event was in Africa. The European humans all died with only the sub-sahara humans in Africa surviving. Mitochondrial DNA shows that all present day humans came from this tiny bottleneck group in Africa. So while humans may have originated in Europe, all present day humans come from a small group in Africa.
