Im not into most of the new shit I think the only NEW mainstream I dig is Odd Future, some Def Jam, Shady/Aftermath/G-Unit, and all the Houston stuff that was popular in the 90's and mid 2000's like Rap-A-Lot, Swisha House etc.
As for rock I'm a 90's aficionado last Vinyl purchases were Life Is Peachy and Pretty Hate Machine.

I like, in rap, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Three 6 Mafia, Eminem, Beastie Boys, I actually like some Lil' Wayne, Snoop Dogg,
I like Micheal Jackson, I dont think he did that molesting shit
I dont give a fuck what yall say, I actually like some Smash Mouth & Matchbox 20.
I actually like some country music like Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, old Garth Brooks, Cowboy Troy is actually pretty tight also Cowboy Troy has showen juggalo love on twitter.
I know a lot of these are from the 90s, but thats when I grew, I loved the 90s, it was a good time then. Whats scary is if you think about it, the 90s were a long time ago, its 2012, 10 years ago was 2002, the 90s are over a decade gone and over with, so much has changed it flips my wig to think about. The music, movies, cartoons, life in general was so much more better in my opinion. People from the 80s will say those were the good times, 70s kids say thier time. All i know is I was born in 86 so I was raised in the 90s, so thats prolly why i loved it so much, because I got to witness all that freshness like "AHHH Real Monsters" "Are you Afried Of The Dark?", you know, when Nick actually had a dark side to it. God, does anyone remember that serious "Tomarrow People" from Nick. How bout "Animorphs", the series based of the books. "Goosebumps". Holy shit, did get off topic with that shit lol. Sorry man Im stoned

Kendrick Lamar and his entire Black Hippy crew (Ab Soul, Jay Rock, Schoolboy Q) have been killing it this year and last...I wouldn't necessarily call them mainstream but Kendrick is definitely the future of dope hip hop...at least a part of it...Big K.R.I.T. is also dope if you're a fan of more lyrical Southern music...he sounds like a mixture of Outkast and UGK...Freddie Gibbs from Indiana is dope...he's signed with Young Jeezy's label right now and has mad work ethic (4 or 5 different projects supposed to be dropping this year)...Odd Future has some dope shit too although some of their stuff comes across as them trying to hard to be shocking/weird...a new artist I just recently started listening to is Joey BadA$$...17 year old from the East Coast and hasn't put out a while lot of material yet (his debut mixtape drops June 12 called "1999") but he has a real throwback sound to the 90's east coast feel of Big L, Nas, Mobb Deep, Biggie, etc....Yelawolf and Slaughterhouse are dope too
