Okay, so I just finished Beastie Boys Book. Loved it. Made me proud to be from New York.
Anyway, my brothers (RIP) were much more into Beastie Boys than I was, growing up.
But now I'm retroactively getting back into them.
Any favorite tracks, albums? No one ever talks about them on here.

Favorite album has to be License to Ill and Hello Nasty
Favorite tracks were Paul Revere, Girls, Brass Monkey, Body Movin, and Intergalactic. They didnt have the same effect when it seems that they came back out with the Sabatoge song.
I remember slamming License to Ill in my 2nd car. Snot green '79 Chevy Monte carlo with t tops that i bought for $200. 2 15's in the trunk that wouldnt fit so i had to bash the inside of the trunk lid with a hammer. I would love to have that car back. And times...

So... I'm the youngest of two passed on brothers. We used to watch "So Whatcha Want" and be like 'yo, I'm Adrock!' and 'yo, no, I'm MCA!' .. etc... this is one of my favorite songs (and I discovered it is one of Mike D's, as well) .. mostly because I love it, but also because i found it on a random mix that my brother Jesse made over ten years ago.

They did a book tour in 2018, but in 2017 at Riot Festival, Mike D was there performing

I just hit 38, right between you two, that's not bad.
Brass Monkey is an odd song. When i had the Monte i was 19-21ish. My girl at the times younger brother thought it was the dumbest song ever and kept making fun of it. I let it pass cause i was boning his sister. I had to have had that disk on repeat for over a month. May have to go pick it up again. Ill put it on my list to look for when i pick up FFF.

The Beastie Boys are a bunch of overrated eighties relic's.
I have respect for them as pioneers of the art form, but let's face it, the machine forced them down the publics throat.
No one really wanted to mess with them because they were a good band to make music with, they did so because a certain.... Uh, religious group.... Had the clout and the power within the industry. And to go against these painfully wack bozo's would have meant career suicide at the time. So artist had to talk through their teeth about how good they where.
If RUN DMC would have picked up live instruments and made a traditional rock n roll album at the same time the Beasties did, they would have got their card pulled and street pass revoked, but it was all good when them beasties done it.....I wonder why?
The Machine and the people within it.
So yea, they are pioneers, but they are also the first industry plants.
