I give Kanye a lot of shit, and I sorta forgot he can make some good shit, love this shit with JayZ.

Still never gonna forgive him for butchering Bohemian Rhapsody, that warrants a death sentence where I'm from.

Kanye is an almost perfect deity that wears his only flaw on his head. Not one bad album.

Can't hate him for doing karaoke of the most karaoke song in the world at a concert. Especially since that song is overrated and overplayed, being the quintessential karaoke song for plebeians.

He made this, nuff said.

And Bohemian is one of the greatest songs of all time. This is fact.

Edit: I forgot to note, he has really good taste in anime.

Not completely a song, but this shit it hilarious.

Even if I like some of the music he's making fun of, this is still fucking amazing.

Some people have also called him preachy, but it doesn't bother me.

I piss a lot of people off that make these same jokes to come off as menacing.

It doesn't come off as bravado when you're threatened by opinions.

Yeah, he made one of the best meme songs. (well, technically it's a lil pump song) Genuinely great for what it was.

Bohemian Rhapsody is one of the highest selling songs of all time if that's what you mean by best. Definitely one of the most popular. I don't consider Drake one of the best rappers either. Both appeal to the same audience, casual music fans.

Kanye has great taste in everything except Trump. I'm still holding on to the 'performance art' theory that he's just trying to domesticate the coyote like Joseph Beuys.

Dude, he wasn't trying to be menacing, it was just a joke, I'm not saying menacing jokes don't exist, but that was just a joke joke.

Bohemian Rhapsody is one of the highest selling songs of all time if that’s what you mean by best. Definitely one of the most popular. I don’t consider Drake one of the best rappers either. Both appeal to the same audience, casual music fans.

I don't care about sales, though part of the reason it sold so well is because it's continued to sell since it came out. Queen still tops rock charts, and that was true even before bohemian rhapsody came out. It got to that number off of being timeless, which I respect a lot more than just being a big hit in the moment. But even if that didn't happen I wouldn't care.

And how the hell are you going to say that Queen is for "casual music fans" while calling Kanye a god?

Or were you referring to Kanye and drake as the mainstream?

Kanye has shaped modern mainstream music, like, a ton. He's not quite the number one biggest anymore, but he's still one of the big mainstream rappers. That's far from "non-casual".

I don't have the time to breakdown why a 6 minute masterpiece is as good as it is, but it has its universal acclaim for a reason.

Maybe, but I've been around enough people that do make these jokes to come off as menacing and OMD has given me plenty of reasons to believe he'd be one of them.

Songs that do well are songs that casual music fans can get into since they make up majority of the listeners. People that throw on easily digestible poppy hits. This song being the ultimate karaoke song, that's why. I didn't say it was bad, I said it was overrated.

And how the hell are you going to say that Queen is for "casual music fans" while calling Kanye a god?

I said Bohemian Rhapsody was. (Well, actually most of Queen does they are fairly poppy.) Kanye reaches outside of that.

Or were you referring to Kanye and drake as the mainstream?

I'm referring to Kanye and Drake as Kanye and Drake.

Kanye has shaped modern mainstream music, like, a ton. He's not quite the number one biggest anymore, but he's still one of the big mainstream rappers. That's far from "non-casual".

You seem confused in what I'm saying, I refer to 'casual music fans' as people that just want something catchy to throw on with out having to dig deep into it. Kanye appeals to that, but he also appeals to people that want substance and innovation. People that actually enjoy music as a passion. Drake doesn't. Drake fans aren't typically music nerds. Majority of the people that consume music are causal listeners. That's what Bohemian appeals to.

I don't have the time to breakdown why a 6 minute masterpiece is as good as it is, but it has its universal acclaim for a reason.

I'm far from being the only one who thinks it's overrated. It's the epitome of what Lil Yachty and Lil Pump are. Over the top and flamboyantly done dumb fun music that doesn't take it's self too seriously. I can't really name anybody that would call it their favorite song though. A lot of die hard Queen fans don't even like the song. Casual music listeners love it, though. You don't need to really digest anything or sit down with it. No thought required, just turn it on and mindlessly belt out the lyrics at the bar.

I’m far from being the only one who thinks it’s overrated. It’s the epitome of what Lil Yachty and Lil Pump are.

Bohemian doesn't even have a chorus, meanwhile the number one criticism of rappers like them is that they are repetitive and have no effort put in their music. The repeating of the word Gucci Gang takes up over half of that entire songs running time.

There's a very good reason that the record company did not want Bohemian to be the big single, because it literally goes against every rule of pop, it doesn't have a chorus, most people can't sing along to it, and the lyrics are completely non-conventional.

It's the epitome because both are

Over the top and flamboyantly done dumb fun music that doesn’t take it’s self too seriously.

And lol at saying that most people can't sing along to the most karaoke song in the world.

I don't think you know how much effort really does get put into their music. I don't think music really needs that much effort anyways. That goes into punk vs. metal where metal heads celebrate technical skills and punk played as sloppy as possible to rebel against music standards. Now I know you're not going to dismiss the whole punk genre the same way.

A huge complaint of Bohemien from music nerds is that it's overproduced and self indulgent. Really, though, I think we're just sick of hearing a song that is overrated and overplayed. It's just as obnoxious as Tekashi 69's image. It was one of the first meme songs before these rappers made meme music into a career.

self indulgent

Self indulgent, why that sounds a lot like narcissism (which was extremely true of Queen don't get me wrong), but, you know who one of, if not the, most notorious narcissists in music is? That's a stupid question, you do know, I don't have to say it.

I have nothing against that, most great musicians ended up far up their own asses at some point, a classical composer named Alexander Scriabin created what many consider some of the best classical music ever made, and he was literally so pretentious, and so narcissistic that he thought he could destroy the world. He genuinely that the last composition he made (which was never finished) would end the world when it was performed.

And his music was basically a gigantic flex, look at how complex I can make my music, but he's only able to do that because it's fucking true.

Also, the only reason ANYONE can sing a long to bohemian is, like you said, it's been played to death, it has no repetition so the only way to remember it is to hear it a lot, and 99% of people can't sing it properly, but at the same time, 99% of people can't sing the national Anthem, that doesn't stop them from trying.

Self indulgence isn't always inherently negative.

Their movie is the epitome of the worst case of self indulgence, though. Not their fault, but still.

A lot of Kanye's music is self parody. Yeezus was an exaggeration of everything he hates about himself. His addiction to materialism, using sex and drugs for escapism, his extreme arrogance and how it's all a facade to hide his insecurities. It's something everybody faces whether they admit it or not. That's why the album used a lot of distortion and dark ominous tones in the instrumentals. A very crazy and schizophrenic industrial approach. Then learning that he's bipolar gives that album another layer to it that I don't think others who don't understand the disorder will get. The album, and a lot of his music in general, is much deeper than what you get on the surface. It plays out like an extreme manic episode. One that he was really going through. He kind of portrayed mental illness in one of the most authentic ways possible. He's also, ironically, one of the most self scrutinizing, self aware and self reflective rappers of at least that era.

Meanwhile, Bohemian didn't have layers it was just obnoxious to be obnoxious like any other self indulgent & obnoxious music such as meme rap. That's fine. It might even be the king of meme music. I still think it's overrated and you'll never convince me to change my opinion by telling me how popular it is.

Bohemian wasn't anymore obnoxious than a jazz composer switching time signatures every measure.
