So I was having a discussion with this guy on violent media and it's correlation(or causation) with aggression/violent responses in humans. I just would like to know what everybody else thinks about this subject. I've been looking at studies done on the subject and the results seem to be inconclusive at best. And it's so hard to pick out who is cherry-picking on both sides of the issue to get down to the truth...Any thoughts?

I think it depends on the person, how they were brought up. Some people are aggressive by nature, some are passive by nature. Anyone can get violent if provoked enough, some just respond violently and others use it as a last resort. Some people will bitch about violent video games, they just did a study on that up here at MIT. After a whole whopping three days some genius was convinced violent video games should be banned, not quite enough to convince me. I think if you're a violent person you'll be violent regardless of what you watch or what you chose to play on your PS3. I see it like this, it's different for everybody. I had a girlfriend who loved the Anna Nicole Smith show that was on back in 2003 or whatever. I personally hate and despise that bitch. After watching that show I wanted to cut someone, and there's no violence at all in that show. It just annoyed me to the point of no return.

yeah I agree with that man. But this guy is arguing that even though it might not make us kill, it still affects our aggression. There are plenty of studies done with children on the subject, but they are very vague about the variables and controls. They just give you the results of the studies and expect you to take it as science....And maybe it is. My thing is they are all short term studies and i'm not convinced that aggression always leads to violence. It's a very tricky subject and i'd like to look at it from a realistic point of view. Because my whole life I have never bothered to look at the other side. I have always agreed with what you just said. MAYBE it can help a frayed mind snap that final thread of sanity...IDK man

I love movies that Quentin Tarantino does but listening to him talk is like listening to someone drag nails across a chalkboard. Twice. Then a third time for good measure. I lost some respect for that dude up there, he was all butthurt. That was all very "I know you are but what am I?" I also have to wonder how much coke dude was on during that interview. Jesus Christ quentin, stop being such a bitch and answer the goddamn question.

I personally believe that violent behavior relies more on how one was raised. If the people you were around as a child praised and glorified violence you'd be way more bound to be a violent person. Even then, there are people who are raised around many different beliefs that reject the beliefs. I guess it all comes down to how potent you think, for lack of a better term, brain washing is. Yeah, I believe that people can be brain washed by themes being subtly forced into our faces, but I believe that it's a lot less potent than conspiracy theorists would suggest. In the end, I believe it's one's own self who controls what they do, and that "brain washing" only occurs when one doesn't question things.

Django Unchained was great, I liked it a lot. I love all his movies, with the exception of Grindhouse, which kept putting me to sleep. Seriously, it took me at least 4 times to watch the whole thing. Putting me to sleep when I'm wide awake is no small feat, but nobody's perfect. Quentin Tarantino is an awesome director/screenwriter, not so great a conversationalist.

Ya hes always hyper when he talks cuz hes passionate about movies, but in this interview he looks bad, like sweating and his hair all fuck up.HAHA.I dont know. His editor died and he got another editor and I think that he needs to cut some of it out, some of his scenes drag in Djago but it was a great movie.@PAT....You didnt like Death Proof or all of Grindhouse?I loved Planet terror but Death Proof was slow.Quintin even said that he thinks its his worst film and I agree but it was still tight imo.

I honestly didn't like any of Grindhouse but Death Proof was the main disappointment. I had high hopes for that movie. Planet Terror I didn't really like either, but Rose McGowan with the machine gun leg was cool as fuck. I was watching that like, i'd hit that. She could never fake an orgasm cause everytime she gets off she empties a clip into the ceiling. Or is that only in my fantasies?
