Got ya. Yeah, right now it’s not enough but if it’s something people/companies care about they’ll donate, er, really I’d consider it more of an investment but whatever. Why should the government fund something that they clearly know nothing about with money from people that might not want it to go to that? That has some major flaws, as we’ve seen. So why can’t the people/companies that are passionate and knowledgable on the subject fund it? That seems safer to me.
I guess the question becomes
Is it worth the risk of going under BUT donations can fund whatever PP actually needs (more research into STEM cells and how we should handle that, all gender contraception studies, updated sexual education, updated abortion techniques/advice/post-abortion assistance, better STD/I information/treatment, really I could go on and on.) or is it safer for the government to fund it BUT what they can do with the money is incredibly limited? Personally, I think the former is a much better choice.
And yes, the Plan B pun was noticed before you even pointed it out. Well done.
I mean, in a perfect world the government would fund all health care and planned parenthood wouldn’t need extra funding.
Planned Parenthood is a social good that benefits everybody, and as such should be at least partially covered by our taxes.
On the flip side, we could ask your question about anything the gov gives money to. Like the military, which is the biggest expense in our federal budget. Why not let people donate to it instead of taking gov funds? Not like our gov knows how to conduct war.

We could, and I do. It’s pretty much the basis for all of my political beliefs. The answer is usually “no, they should not pay for it because they’ll fuck it up.” I get what you’re askin but honestly, I kind of think it’s a good question. Why shouldn’t we have a privately funded military? Shit, if people are paying for it out of pocket directly they might actually pay attention and end the shit. It’s cheaper and less people die that way.

interesting thought, Noah… since we will likely never be rid of taxes until far into the future, maybe people should be given a CHOICE of where they want their tax dollars spent.
Like twice a year, here’s an example:
Your Humanitarian Tax:
– Local Community Outreach
– Funding For Third World Agriculture/Food Production Teaching
– Abused Women Support
– Other: -write in-
Your Mother Earth Tax:
– Hemp Production and Cannabis Research
– Renewable Energy Transition Training For Fossil Fuel Workers
– National Park Preservation
– Other: -write in-
Your Social Equality Tax:
– LGBT Acceptance and Understanding
– Religious Tolerance Pacts
– Caring For the Elderly
– Other: -write in-
just a quick example. And YES, I will be running for president soon.

If the private military decides to strike off on some shit to justify donations, and that triggers global consequences, like say a trade war, then what? Or a general gets very egotistical and then creates a coup?
Or if we don’t donate to the military and it dwindles. Then we need them? People don’t really understand all that the military does.
I personally favor the government being an extension of the wants of the people. Although it breaks from time to time, we use the gov and taxes to pay for shit that makes our nation stronger. If we had a more fair tax system, we would be able to cover a lot of our nation’s needs, no sweat.
The problem I see with the donations idea is that it lets people off the hook. And i use people to include corporations. Many of whom are the people who use these policies the most. Like with infrastructure. And if we go to forprofit motives for everything we run the very real risk of companies letting their greed drive their production.
Basically there is no perfect solution with the nation we have so for me the best choice is to try and spread the costs and benefits as much as possible. And to provide more oversight. It would be fantastic if we actually listened to the people who know shit about shit but we can’t really expect that that will always happen.
If it were up to me we would abolish capital as we understand it and avoid the whole issue.

Because it’s different now? We already have rich fucks doin what they want with weapons for their investors best interest. The people puttin em in check are the places they would be pointin the bombs at. Only difference is it would be harder to raise the funds to aim the things. Even if that wasn’t the case, any system can get abused and turn bad. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad system. It just means that bad people are using it.

Agree that there’s no perfect solution. Agree that we should spread the costs but my only caveat is that it should be spread among people that actually want to invest. Anything else screams of a government that thinks they know what’s best for everyone. Which they more often than not are wrong on. Usually because of a lack of oversight.
If it were up to me we would abolish capital as we understand it and avoid the whole issue.
My heart agrees but in practice it would never work. Currency is an idea that we find in nature. It’s not an exclusive to humans thing. With that said, Libertarianism would never work either so fuck it, dream on, fellow dreamer.

I agree with your first point except that when it is the gov doing it, it is (to whatever degree) part of an ongoing strategy that takes into consideration the economic and trade consequences.

YouTube Video ‘Women’s March’ Crashed By Crowder… IN DRAG! (Featuring Wendy Davis)
I don’t really get what’s funny about a dude dressing up like a woman and people not giving him shit about it.
Or how when asked about what single issue the protests were about he was told it wasn’t about a single issue, but that it was about everybody’s rights which are in jeopardy.
Or how it is ridiculous that to think trump would go after abortion rights since 5 days in and he already has.
Or why he has a problem with women choosing too display their body and doesn’t see how it’s different for women to express their sexuality than it is for men to impose their sexuality onto women.
Or why he assumes that guy isn’t gay
Or why he thinks a poem which mentions menstruation is “crazy”.
And so on.
