I know what you’re sayin, Shaman. You’re good lol. All I can find on either side is buzzwords. The right is sayin people are marching because they’re stupid and are crybabies and shit. The left is sayin people are marching because of fascism and tyranny and shit. Both of those answers are dismissive and seem to be just pushing an agenda, which I’m not interested in.

Pro-life feminists were excluded from the march, so it really doesn’t seem like a Women’s March. More like a liberal march with “a very specific type of diversity, which does not include everyone.”

As for CellE’s caveat, I’m sure this, like every other thread, will wildly deliver what’s necessary. Keep trying to control the discourse, though. It reminds me why people march in the first place. Check out these ridiculous marching cunts dressed up like cunts (I’m guessing the kid at the bottom left is now scarred for life):

the march was put together by women and at least partially funded by Planned Parenthood (that’s who pro-life feminists weren’t allowed to march under the banner with the others) the march was in protest of Trumps cabinet being filled wit people that are generally against womens rights and not only want to defund PP but also cut back on reproductive rights (birth control, abortion, shit like that)

I posted it on facebook but I expect better things here; The WomensMarch thing is because of Planned Parenthood maybe, potentially getting defunded kind of sort of right? It’s hard as shit to find an actual reason why there’s so many protesting so I’m just assuming it’s because of that.Is it? Did I miss something? Are all of these people protesting because Planned Parenthood (an organization that I only hesitate to support 100% because I think they need to be MORE progressive) may now be funded by citizens and will thus have to listen to our government less? How is that a bad thing? Remember when a senator said that women’s bodies can’t get pregnant if they get raped? Are you REALLY protesting because that guy might not be in charge of you now?^that’s what I posted^There’s obviously some people that are protesting and don’t know why. There’s plenty of misspelled “fascism” signs in the crowd but I don’t think that dismisses the whole group. The actual reason, if there is one, is more interesting to me. Thoughts/comments/concerns?Also, please don’t let this be another Krunk V Rob thing. I’m just asking for answers and for someone to tell me why I’m wrong. Not to insult, degrade, namecall.
It’s not really about a single issue which is why it drew so many people in. The original organizers were planning on making an event to show that women were against trump and his agenda in general. It escalated quickly and white feminists tried to high jack it and make it about planned parenthood but there was pushback to bring it back to an intersectional agenda.
The event in LA was beautifully intersectional. We had 750k people packed together. I saw workers rights flags, anarchist flags, lgbt flags, and signs everywhere promoting rebuilding our America into a free and supportive nation.
Planned parenthood was on deck and was fundraising but so were other organizations.
It was so crowded, the entire march route and several side streets were PACKED. I told v ron that it was like trying to get into the pit at dark lotus at the last gotj at the small stage but for MILES.
The majority of the signs were anti trump but a lot of them were about lifting and healing the people present to prepare for the many fights that will come.
Such as cutting funding for planned parenthood.
And to address the question of why that’s bad, it is because the amount of money they get from the government does a lot of good. It would cripple them and cause many branches in the poorest communities to close. It would be nice if donations could keep it afloat but that simply isn’t the case at this time. It might come to that, but we hope it doesn’t. The government funds they get are blocked by federal law from going to abortions.
A few years ago, Susan G. Komen, a not for profit breast cancer awareness campaign cut funding to planned parenthood and they ended up raising a lot of money and bad publicity for komen which eventually reinstated their contribution and changed its name to komen for the cure. So I think if it comes to that, if we lose the fight, planned parenthood will figure something out.
But the march was a lot more than that. And while I’m sure the women krumk posted were not allowed to march under a pro choice banner, there is no way they were prevented from marching, unless they were in a significantly smaller community. DC and LA were so ridiculously packed no one would have been able to police their politics.

The organizers are starting their next action, a postcard campaign, which states:
Write down your thoughts. Pour your heart out on any issue that you care about, whether it’s ending gender-based violence, reproductive rights and women’s health, LGBTQIA rights, worker’s rights, civil rights, immigrant rights, religious freedom, environmental justice or anything else.
There’s also a page that lays out their mission: https://www.womensmarch.com/principles
Which gives more commentary.

I don’t have time to read up further right now but ya’ll have given me some shit to read for sure on both “sides”, for lack of better word. This clearly required more research and now I have some better defined starting points.
But for now:

Someone else mentioned the poor thing to me as well. I don’t agree though. Within the last few years corporations have really been going for that “corporations are people” thing. Target was the first thing that came to my mind when I heard about this. I can’t see them, and other large companies, missing the opportunity to donate significant funds to PP. If for nothing else, good publicity. I don’t know how you’re getting that donations can’t keep it afloat. Perhaps I’ve missed some figures that you’ve seen or something?

A bit of a side note but yeah, fuck Komen. That shit does nothing but harm. Judging by what you said I’m guessing you already know just how evil of a business that is but if you don’t, I highly recommend looking up their various lawsuits against other cancer awareness organizations. They’re fuckin terrible.

I meant that the donations they get now aren’t enough. It might be a while before they go under without federal aid but it would be a real possibility. They might even be able to stay flush but it would take spending time and money on finding new solutions. A lot of corporations give them donations as is. And I do think if government funding was blocked they would get more donations in a short term push. Basically plan A is to get money from the government as long as possible and plan b is to figure out new solutions. Also lol at my pun.
And yeah, komen can suck lemons.

Got ya. Yeah, right now it’s not enough but if it’s something people/companies care about they’ll donate, er, really I’d consider it more of an investment but whatever. Why should the government fund something that they clearly know nothing about with money from people that might not want it to go to that? That has some major flaws, as we’ve seen. So why can’t the people/companies that are passionate and knowledgable on the subject fund it? That seems safer to me.
I guess the question becomes
Is it worth the risk of going under BUT donations can fund whatever PP actually needs (more research into STEM cells and how we should handle that, all gender contraception studies, updated sexual education, updated abortion techniques/advice/post-abortion assistance, better STD/I information/treatment, really I could go on and on.) or is it safer for the government to fund it BUT what they can do with the money is incredibly limited? Personally, I think the former is a much better choice.
And yes, the Plan B pun was noticed before you even pointed it out. Well done.

I haven’t read too much into it, but it appears to me that whatever it was started as, intended as, or meant to be, the march is simply a march for Women’s rights and overall a message that the good, tolerant people are still out there, and many are not afraid to go out and let the new regime know.
