@djscrubb the only reason I decided that I want to get paid for collaborations (I’ll make a few exceptions) is because Bloodstepp offered me $50 for my verse on Aliens and Corpses. I think I told him I would have done it for free too. He was willing to pay me for a verse, so why not anybody else? Plus, I can’t spend my money to do verses for other people because I have my stuff professionally recorded for me. I mean, you can’t make money giving a bunch of hand outs. If it’s a smaller rapper, then the chances of my music getting heard are the same. If it’s a bigger rapper, I know they’d have the money to shell out, so why not? And if the song blows up, that person is making money off something I got nothing from. Of course there would be exceptions. But for the most part I want money. Could also go for a royalty deal, though currently Ascap only covers my beats. I’ll try not to be super greedy though.

^^^^ if you do work you deserve to be paid something. You wouldn’t go into mcdonalds and be like yo man check it out I’m a food blogger and I’m just starting out so you hook me up with a some nuggets and I’ll write a review and we can both get fans. 

And if someone is like yo i thought we were homies? If you were a homie you’d be down to pay someone for a verse even if your budget is tight.

I completely understand where you’re coming from, Scrubb. That was my whole mindset on verses and beat making too. But I read somewhere that you don’t want to do that too often if you really want to make money off of it. Here and there is okay, but ultimately doing it too often is selling yourself short. Recognition has nothing to do with it. Then again that was about beats rather than verses. Either way, if I ask any of you to collab I’ll pay you guys too.

Also, that reminds me, I really hope that beat prototype doesn’t get lost. I have an untagged .wav on my Ipod but no track stems.
