Only if you give God the same attributes as man. I just doesn’t sit right in my head to think that any concept I can create of how I think God should behave or think can come even close to the reality of God. If God is All and God punishes any of his creation, then God punishes part of himself. That is a form of insanity and leads people to believe they can mitigate God’s “punishment” by punishing themselves or others for him. All guilt lies in that thought. I absolutely believe in God but not one with such limited human created concepts. I don’t know…. my mind just can’t understand a God of punishment. Punishment sounds more like something the devil of the bible would come up with. Hey, they say the devil is the great deceiver. Could it be we are all deceived in thinking that these negative attributes belong to God? Did this devil pull the greatest trick and make us envision God with his (the devil’s) attributes?

side note (if case you don’t know): I do not believe in the devil. And yes, I’ve heard the argument that the greatest feat the devil accomplished is making us believe that he doesn’t exit. But if the devil exists then he is one weak ass muthafucka cause he can’t do anything for himself, he always needs us to do it for him. And if the devil is the diametric opposite of God then what is the opposite of Everything? … Nothing.

I keep away from these topics but I just gotta jump in on the atheist tip. “Atheist” as the staunch determination that all things “supernatural” do not exist is a lack of open mindedness. It is extremely narcissistic of humanity to think that it is the smartest lifeform in the universe. We are all animals and just like you can teach a smart dog to do a lot of things, he will *never understand algebra. Likewise, there are things we just *can’t learn or know. There are things in this universe our eyes can’t perceive and our senses are not tuned to receive. Dimensional space is more vast than what our minds can even begin to wrap themselves around. Ghosts and even stories of faeries could actually be US in some other space we only see briefly as the sun warps gravity and TIME before it hits our eyes to be translated by our brains into images and thoughts. There’s a lot of crazy shit out there and no one should reduce such magnificent and unknowable mysteries into something more easily digestible for our brains and ego to comprehend.

However, I *will say THERE IS NO GOD. Merely using the phrase “god” is still an allusion to a tenant that was created during a time when the sun revolved around the earth, it was flat and manatees were mermaids. I think the spiritual world DOES exist but not because it was ‘made’ that way and not for ANY reason anyone that has, was or probably ever will come up with with the same brain you and I both have which is the same one they had. This does nothing to even address the myriad of “gods” every culture around the world came up with. The word “god” is still an attachment to what you have been *taught and what your parents taught you and so on… Everyone wants their version to be correct but no one considers that they are ALL wrong and can NEVER be right.

What happens after we die? *I don’t know. And neither do you. Or your parents. Or the people that told them they know. Or the people before them. NO ONE KNOWS. It is UNKNOWABLE. Any story or belief you have been told *about what happens when you die is a LIE or a MYTH or what your brain does when it loses oxygen and tries to explain what is going on with it creating images. Images created by extrapolating upon the stories you were told and the culture you were raised in.

I WANT things we call myths and religions to be real. I WANT science to explain the things it can’t and one day it might. But I will not hold humanity’s understanding and evolution back by stories that we all know only served as methods of control or a means to inflict harm on another. I’ll never tell you you are *wrong until it prevents you from seeing with your own eyes. I fucking love science. Science has nothing to do with YOUR belief in something. Or the guy next you’s belief in something. I don’t have to believe in Jesus or Buddha in order for my computer to work. Science is freedom.

Part of my family is Australian. Do YOU believe in the Dreaming? Do you even know what that is? Probably not but when people talk about “god” they ignore every other culture that has -no concept- of “god” because that’s not how the universe was “created” for *them. If you want to talk about the afterlife or ghosts or the boogeyman, (all of which have every right to probably ACTUALLY exist whether we can see them or not) I challenge you to do so in the same way I challenge people that are against abortion or euthanasia… without ANY mention of -YOUR- “god”. Talk to me about how the whole universe works without mentioning ANY part of YOUR god or YOUR bibles or YOUR churches.

Strict atheism is just as myopic as religion is. Science, TRUE science, is ALWAYS open to the *possibility.

Science saves lives and if the stories are to be believed, GOD is responsible for 100% of all deaths.

Now it is such a bizarrely improbable coincidence that anything so mindbogglingly useful could evolve purely by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as a final and clinching proof of the non-existence of God. The argument goes something like this:

“I refuse to prove that I exist,” says God, “for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing.”

“But,” says Man, “the Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn’t it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don’t. QED.”

“Oh dear,” says God, “I hadn’t thought of that,” and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic.

“Oh, that was easy,” says Man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white, and gets killed on the next zebra crossing.

I see some possible conscious or subconscious teetering around the point I made in the Unpopular thread about how you shouldn’t always respect your elders. No one vibed with me on it, hopefully because they agree… I don’t think I can handle any type saying shit like “well, they might be a child rapist that murders old war widows for fun, BUT you still should respect them for being your elder!!!” Haha look at me, just daring muhfuckas to get that ignint… 

Agnosticism is the only label that makes sense. I even wish there wasn’t a word at all to describe it, as it isn’t really a religion at all. . I find Atheism as ignorant as Christianity so don’t lump me into Atheism territory. Back I’m grade school I was labeled a Satanist simply for not believing in my peer’s public school God. Blasphemy!! Heresy!!!!

@slumerican502 I agree 100% that parents need to earn the respect of their children. It sounds taboo to many, but it’s true.

I was being a little tired whiny bitch recently when my two daughters were simultaneously crabbing, and my wife gave me the best advice on parenting I’ve ever heard:

“They didn’t ask to be born”.

^ This affects so much of the entire parent-child spectrum. Being a decent parent is your LIFE’S JOB. Even if deep down you feel like you may not even like the child that much (very taboo, I know, but it happens. I’m guessing frequently around their teenage years), you have to at least go through the motions. If you truly are too lazy or selfish, or you just can’t hack it financially, then adoption is there. Someone out there will love you kid.

However, I’ve learned great stuff from witnessing the mistakes of my own parent’s and others, so parents that aren’t angels are also useful. I’ve learned from watching my dad lose his two first born sons that you need to take some time off once and awhile and spend time with your kids. We all work a lot these days. Many will counter with “I HAVE TO WORK OR MY KIDS WILL DIE SO FUCK YOU!!” And yes, do your work, pay your bills, feed your family. But why would you not want to spend time with them? They can die at any second. ANY second. THIS second. What will you say? “Oh, I tried my best to provide and work 15 hours every day, then ignore them and watch TV when I got home until I fell I did it all again the next day. The mother can take care of them”. Fuck that, I want to experience as much of my kid’s lives as possible.

Fuck all you “old school” fathers. Never changing a diaper, afraid to play with your kid (especially girls) for fear of looking silly, won’t help dress or feed the kid, ignoring them when all they want is your attention and love. I hope to earn my daughter’s respect and keep it. 

The evil parents have nothing to teach except that there is evil in this world, and it is real. You don’t have to have a Christian Good VS Evil morality to know that. People are wicked. Unspeakably wicked.
