It really all comes down to a state by state thing. Maybe my state is more strict than others but its the only one I’ve purchased firearms in so its all I really know. So obviously my comment is based on my opinion because its what I know/think

Texas has an heirloom law. Any gun owned for 5+ years can be sold publicly without a permit. The buyers are supposed to register them but the criminals never do. Most people do because you get a tax break hear for rifles as a cost of living expense if you hunt.

Interesting. My state has no kind of registration what so ever. I actually thought gun registration was a myth perprotrated by the media. I mean every gun has a serial number but it can really only be traced to the original buyer but actually registering it to some kind of government agency has never been a thing here. Which is actually kinda surprising since I love in a pretty liberal area

Definitely a thing here but Texas is a major gun state.

Yeah, I lived and grew up in Michigan were you need to register any and all firearms.  Then I move down to Florida and there’s absolutely NO firearm registration at all.  If you purchase a rifle or shotgun can you get it that day, however, for handguns you need to wait 3 business days for whatever reason.  To get around that 3 day wait you’ll need to have your CCW permit.

That’s what it is here in Washington but I have my CCW permit so I’m used to just walking out same day with whatever l buy. They just make a phone call for the background check update and you’re good to go. All this gun talk just makes me want another one dammit!

i honestly dont get the fascination with guns.

ive played with enough, i grew up around firearms. shit ive owned several illegal firearms over the years. i just dont get it. australian gun laws are pretty strict, so its harder to get guns. ive got one which lives on a family farm nowadays, got no use for it in the city.

i goto the firing range once or twice a year with my stepdad so he can play with  the dirty harry .44 magnum and some heavier rifles and such. i only go because i like to keep my skills relatively sharp. im a crack shot with a 308. grew up killing roo’s out in the bush with the black fellas. read what you will into that.

Oh yeah man, CCW is the way to go! Mine does not expire until Sept. 2018.

Speaking of, I’ve been eyeing a certain Blackhawk 1911 for years.  I’ve always wanted a really nice 1911. @skratchie

@novocaine its all about that crisp trigger pull, the smell of gun oil, shooting a tight group, buying the expensive hollow points, going to the range, taking apart the firearm and cleaning it…..I could go on and on.  But that’s the fascination for me at least.

Yeah I kinda like guns.

My first gun purchase was a Taurus 1911 and I fucking love that thing. Too big to conceal and a pain in the ass to take apart and clean but still a great fucking gun!

@djscrubb – lol i dunno man, i just never got that feeling. same with cars, i appreciate a good muscle car, because you have to respect anyone who took the time to pour hundreds if not thousands of hours and dollars into a 57 cherry red chevy. but i never get excited over cars either.

i think i get it though. i get that way over books mostly lol. god im a nerd.

I had a loaded handgun pointed at me Tuesday night and I learned a lot about myself that night. I should really be dead.

Did you point it at yourself or did you outsource your failed suicide attempt?

When that happened to my cousin he changed, turned uber-alpha, and walks around with a gun on his person at all times now. Did it change your views on anything (or maybe just stoked the dark side?)

Not really. I just found out a lot about myself. I’m still the same me. I’m a little more grateful to be alive.
