Dude I fucking love fishing. What I usually do is let one pole sit at the bottom for catfish and use one or two more for blue gill or crappie. All fresh water in kentucky obviously. I definitely wouldnt call fishing boring. Half the fun is sitting around bullshitting with a couple buddies and sippin on whatever is handy. Havent been yet this spring, and you have me fiending now lol.

do you keep the catfish? I always threw them back, but now that im trying to catch some, they wont bite. been wanting to eat catfish. id imagine the taste difference between salt and freshwater.
Theres just something about the feeling of a fish biting onto your hook that gives a rush. im gonna hit the water in the morning

Fishing is my anti-drug. Shit, I’ve even done drugs while fishing lol.
For real though, fishing is in my top five favorite things to do. I am not getting my NY license this year since we’re moving to Colorado in August, so I just fish at my dad’s two small ponds and this huge one on private land nearby. The latter has literally some of the best fishing around. I guarantee that there is a state record yellow perch in there. The ones we’ve caught in the past were so damn husky lol. We used to catch mostly all perch but I haven’t had any in years, strangely.
I caught two beautiful walleye there couple years back. One ancient catfish last summer and countless bullheads over the years. They thrive there because it’s private so no over-fishing.
The winter here in NY was the harshest in like twenty years. It got so cold that the ice wiped out most of the larger carp and catfish (warm water fish) in one of my pop’s ponds. The minnows survived.
But yeah, @sean-law , fishing 4 life! I’ve got tons of stories and hope to create more…. to answer your questions, I mainly fish freshwater, and have only tried saltwater about five times when I lived in North Carolina. I’ve never gotten even a nibble, or don’t even know if I did, because I had no one to teach me coastal beach fishing. Thus, I had no idea what the FUCK I was doing lol.. my brother is the only one of us to ever land an ocean fish. He used a blue and silver spinner spoon and caught a flounder. We had no idea what it was at first; scared the bejesus out of us. I’m so proud of him, and man I’ll never forget that shit.
Usually I use live bait, but have been landing the best fish with lures here and there. Largest bass ever I caught on a lake with a triple-jointed Rapala that resembled a perch. Got like four chain pickerel last summer with a gold spoon.
I don’t do any Ocean fishing. I mainly stick to the river. There are some freshwater lakes and shit around, but you have to travel to get to them. I Have the Indian river right down the street so I go there. When I lived in Maryland, we used to catch nice perch, Rainbow trout, and bass. One thing that sucks about Saltwater is the god damn blowfish. They will fuckin eat anything. They bite the tails of my DOA’s. The salt will also eat up your reel, so you gotta stay cleaning it. Oh yea, and the river dolphins, Pelicans, and Cast netters bogging your spot gets annoying aswell.

have you ever caught one? I don’t think they are in freshwater though
hell no, I didn’t even know they were common, that’s why I found it funny. I keep thinking of The Simpsons episode where Homer eats the poison blowfish hahaha
I have, however, unintentionally caught three different turtles in my life. They like worms too, apparently. And I hooked a duck’s leg. That was awful lol

2 Tuff Tony’s Fishing Tournament

Cast out your line into the cold watery grave of an alien underwater world to try to win this competition that will test your true grit and determination as a champion of lure and sinker. 2 Tuff Tony is back again and more fishy than ever, as he hosts this competition that dares to test the fishing enthusiast against the oh-so-elusive predators of the deep who stare back with gross, unblinking, deadpan eyes at all who would try to deceive them with tasty morsels on a hook. Prizes will be determined by the combined weight of each competitor’s three biggest fish caught: First Place – GOTJ Gold Plaque and $100 gift certificate; Second Place – $100 gift certificate; and Third Place – $50 gift certificate. Those wishing to compete should bring all of their own fishing gear, bait and a bucket (limit of 1 fishing poles per competitor) . Only those fish caught during the contest (and witnessed by a judge) will be counted. Those wishing to compete should show up at the Seminar Tent between 7:30 – 8am (don’t be late).

Only if they are big enough. Im not gonna pretend im good at catfishing cuz theres a lot that goes into it. Those big bastards are tricky cuz once they see that bank they tend to cut across and follow it. You have to give it some slack at the right moment or it will snap your line every single time. Plus you have to know the right time of day(we always had luck at dusk) and fish in your pond/lake enough to know where they generally lay. You also have to know which way the water is flowing to find that ideal spot where they can catch the scent of the bait. We always use chicken livers for catfish. Thats crack to them.
I like blue gills because you are guaranteed to catch some every time you go out. Throw a night crawler on there, set your bobber to where you are fishing 6-8 feet, then throw it in and relax.
Sometimes ill try spinnerbait for some large mouth but ive NEVER had any luck with it or any artificial bait for that matter. Much prefer live bait.

Oh Hell Yeah!!!
Going this weekend. I prefer freshwater just for the peacefulness of it and seclusion, and I can avoid going out on boats. Saltwater fishing is the shit too as well, whole other ballgame though.
I use bait more often than not. Usually shiners. Worms come in handy too.
Fishing is the shit because it’s a sport you can excel at while drunk.
I ran into someone that was talking about going by the lunar schedule to fish. anyone else heard of this? apparently its best to fish according to certain moon timings. I usualy go before sunrise though. its an app called time2fish. never used it though.
as far as catfish. I used to just throw shrimp on the line and cast out near a causeway bridge, and catch em everytime.
