Real shit…
On my personal page, I expressed an opinion regarding a current event that in the span of a DAY resulted in losing a friend of 25yrs (having unfriended and blocked me) and accused of being a “rape sympathizer” despite the event in question having NOTHING to do with sexual assault…
In the course of said “discussion” (with people I have known for DECADES (2 at least), there became a “point of order” that involved the mention of my having attended several “Gathering of the Juggalos” for which the response was, “You’re a Juggalo now? That explains a lot”….
FLH regulars will already know that I have my own “requirements” as to whether or not and before I go around struttin’ and sayin’ so as it pertains to my “juggalo status” [wink wink]…
But I feel like I’ve just been forced across that threshold to where I can’t help but say so without fear of reproach …
FUCK THOSE ASSHOLES!
There’s nothing quiet so surreal as having people you’ve known for YEARS and have done shit together that neither would ever want repeated, (bordering if not CROSSING on the “legally actionable” [ahem]), INVALIDATING entire friendships on the basis of a SIMPLE disagreement with accusations of all kinds of crazy slippery-slope bullshit arguments that ultimately end with,
“So you’re a juggalo now? That explains a lot.”…
It was in that moment… I felt something. I’m not sure the name. Not vindication (cuz that feels different). Not righteous indignation (I get accused of that all the time and it apparently also feels different). But… something like… conviction…(?)[insert youfuckedupchanthere]
Like… “You accuse me of being a piece of dogshit “rape denier/victim shamer” (repeat: about something that had NOTHING to do with sexual assault cuz that’s how crazy shit became) and denounce my objections to such because I “consort” with Juggalos?!…”
Never has an already BULLSHIT argument EVER been so soundly rebuked from the very mouth that uttered it (cow style).
Ya wanna know how to “win” an argument with an SJW “non-juggalo”… just wait for them to start talking shit ABOUT juggalos!

I’m really curious what you said that was understood as being a rape apologist or whatever that you think had nothing to do with talking about consent.
I have talked with other sjw types about their quickness to belittle juggalos. It’s inherently classist and typically ablist.
Haven’t you been a jug head for a while? If you been friends for so long, they just barely noticed? Seems odd.

One of the most insulting things I’ve ever heard was back when I finished a 3 month internship as a creepy janitor at a Jr. High. The principal asked me if I was still a juggalo. I told her yes. She said, “Well, I guess I didn’t fix that”. To this day I feel like she is a disgraceful bitch and I hope her school gets shot up by a Nickleback fan. Or worse. I hope her school has Nickleback visit.

You have my sympathy. I loathe social justice culture and the social media that enables it. Most people fail to realize that social media is a machine that feeds you content in accordance to an algorithm designed to reaffirm your personal preferences and nothing else. It limits your exposure to alternative points of view and typically, by way of clickbait articles and misinformation, spins opposing viewpoints as wrong. They don’t realize how insidiously divisive it all is, and that it’s done this way on purpose.
That’s why I refuse to engage social justice people on the internet. I will in the real world, all day every day. Because the reality is, they’re typically well meaning young people who don’t understand the importance of free speech. Language is beautiful and versatile and can carry many meanings, humanity is so complex that the individual’s character cannot be quantified as ists and isms even if he calls his buddy a fag or uses incorrect pronouns. I get on with them in the real world by being honest with them, refusing to censor myself and having open dialogue about my reasons why not. Most people are sensible, it s when you get into groupthink that makes people tribal. These people rally behind the idea of diversity- but I try to make them understand that just as there is cultural diversity, there exists such a thing as intellectual diversity tha is equally important. Then I regale them with true stories of the sweeping spectrum of people you meet at The Gathering and I go from being a typical cis white male to the fuckin’ diversity unicorn.
So my advice? Try calling your friend. Or arrange a face to face sit down. Hash it out like human beings ought to. If he refuses, he was never worth it to begin with.

With politics and religions and whatnot it can be divisive, but social media isn’t all bad. I mean shit, THIS is a social media site, to an extent.
Social media allows nearly instantaneous communication and sharing of information of a huge population of our planet. I for one think that is a good thing.

I don’t get your point. An example of what? A perfect utopia on the internet? The internet is full of dicks, but so is real life. It’s not really THAT much different. The perceived anonymity makes people more likely to talk shit, but that’s the price ya pay.
