No disrespect to Robin, sucks he died, but now Im going to have to see him all over the media that will milk this for every penny as people sit back and watch then pretend to give a fuck about depression awareness and suicide prevention for a month or two until the next thing to pretend to care about comes along to create the facade of being a caring good person.
Hes become a temperary martyr just like MJ and Whitney Houston and Heath Ledger and Bob Marley and that one fat blond comedian from that white ninja movie. Lets see how far his Martyr fame takes him.
Its like ground hog day. People watch and say, "we can all learn a lesson from this" but nobody ever actually learns a lesson.

None of you ninjas are allowed to do the suicide thing. I prohibit it.Seriously though... It probably doesn't need to be said cause you all know this, but if the thought rises to such a predominance that you start thinking of ways to do it, then just PM almost any of the main posters on here. We are all family. None of us want to see our community shrink by even 1 person.
keep this shit in mind, suicidals. im not being funny.
and watch that video, now and again. itll help.

"Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says 'Treatment is simple. Great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up.' Man bursts into tears. Says 'But Doctor... I am Pagliacci.'"
fresh, but youre supposed to preface that with, 'heard joke once: '
'good joke. everybody laugh. roll on snare drum. curtains.'
you know... somehow, that works as a perfect epitaph for robin.
awfully paranoid, arent you?

whats with juggalos and depression??
stop listening to twiztid you wont be depressed cause me too when I listen to twiztid I feel like I want to kill myself afterwords.
Depression is rampant. Always has been. Its just more of a focus now that we live in an age to better study and understand it. Like autism. Autism isn't new or a sudden epidemic; it existed for long years just misunderstood or under different labels.
And juggalos are the same depression level with any music fans, it just appears more prevalent due to maybe the fact that juggalos feel more open to discussing it with one another. Perhaps too much lol. But its a cool thing overall, for humans to be so open to oneanother in tthis familial subculture that we are all a part of. I personally do not have any mental illnesses, but know that I could attach one if I open up the DSM-IV. I have never been medicated for a mental illness. I drink too much beer, but this is not a depression-related self-medication. I really enjoy it. I wouldn't be any more or less depressed without beer. . I'm fortunate enough to only have situational life periods that naturally have given me healthy sadness. And we all have shit days. I don't view peeps on meds as being any weaker.

Unbelievable....he was arguably one of the top comedians in the world. Fame, fortune, career, loved and admired...he had it all and still was not happy.
At the GOTJ they polled the audience and asked how many don't know if they got gas money to get home. A bunch raised their hands...they looked happy to me, even when broke.
People wont believe that $ can't buy happiness. Sure it is better to be rich and happy than poor and miserable. But he is a good example of how it can be better to be poor and happy than rich and miserable. Yes, if you got depression get some help. Many counties have free or low cost counseling at their community mental health centers.

Funk Volume wraps it up with "Made a mistake and had to find myself, remind myself, fame ain't wealth, pain don't last, learn to adapt and it's hard to fail."

I agree with you for the most part, but I wanna add a few things. I feel like depression in spurts is just a part of life they gave a name to in order to sell some pills. That is not to say that medication cant help depression, but I think we need to stop and think about what these pills do to your chemistry. They are meant for short term but I know people who have been on them for years and sometimes decades.
Im not trying to belittle mental illness, but i think our need for instant gratification in this country is a big part of why we get hooked on these pills. Yall ever stop for a minute and wonder, maybe we are supposed to be sad sometimes? Sadness can be a good thing sometimes.
To paraphrase Roland Deschain: "A gunslinger doesnt have to die happy, just satisfied".
If it gets too much to handle, please talk to somebody first before putting those pills in you. I will gladly give my number our to anyone who needs it.
I cant give advice but im a good listener.
There's a gateway in our minds
That leads somewhere out there, far beyond this plane
Where reptile aliens made of light
Cut you open and pull out all your pain

One thing nobody is talking about much, Robin was broke, due to various reasons, one being huge divorce settlements. He admitted it when they were promoting his new sitcom last year. He said he chose to do a sitcom rather that go on the road again as a comic to make money. When I saw the sitcom wasn't renewed, I thought to myself, oh shit what is Williams' going to do for money now? Guess he just decided it was time to go.

True that . And I feel a small tome for uplifting and generally interesting "gunslinger quotes" would be cool. A little mini book like the Dharmapadda.
"Kids in the Hall: Brain Candy" has your point in mind. That we CANT be happy all the time. Ever see it? People take a pill that sends your brain to your favorite memory. But soon people start getting stuck there. Its funny because one of the character's favorite memory is gay sex with other men in Vietnam or something. Its a funny Canadian flick in parts.
Also, anyone read up on Keanu Reeves' tragic life story? Basically he had a rough one too, but isn't suicidal. He simply says, "Some people need happiness to live. I don't." Hahaha that's some Roland shit right there. I wonder if Neo has roots in Gilead?
