ive had people come up to me at work and ask about a fair few of the regulars on the forum. sean, sketchez, scruffy, scrubb, sicc se7en and others have fans in australia and new zealand. kinda puts your claim to complete bullshit. and these are people that dont even like me, so have no reason to actually try and stroke my ego.

I think the forum would be dead like a lot of the forums around here. I don’t think it’s difficult to find new music here if it’s wanted. And I think you get into the general problem horrorcore sites get into: what’s underground and what’s amateur. It sucks to be ignored but it sucks worse to not be taken seriously. And if I were a rapper trying to make a name for myself I’d want my name to be next to established artists. If someone posts their music in “underground” but someone moves it to amateur, they could take it as a diss. 

And what about people who only post in that forum? What if it becomes spam central?

Would it be for advertising, for critiques, or for workshopping? For all three? 

Create it if you want but I’m pretty sure I’d never listen to anything posted in a section where people are dismissing their work before I even look at the post. 

But that’s why I don’t even post my garbage lol. 

Amway. It seems like minds are made up in the affirmative so just do it and those of us who don’t like the idea will get over it. I don’t think any of us HATE the idea, we’re just not excited about it. 

this would be more driven for the artists who are doing it for fun. there ARE people out there that enjoy that sort of music and will seek it out. 

i agree that if i was wanting to take my music seriously i wouldnt be posting it in an amatuer forum. i would say it would definitely be for all 3. but at the same time, if someone is advertising their music, im guessing they take it a little bit seriously. which would mean they would move away from the amatuer forum.

i might be doing this for fun, but i always encourage critics to attack my work, if someone picks apart what they see im doing wrong i can improve. and id love an area to hit people up for collab idea. like the mindfuck cypher. that was great fun.

This attitude is one of the reasons I voted no. Criticism is a healthy, needed part to any art. If this forum was made and people give honest opinions about the music it could quickly degenerate into hurt feelings, name calling, etc. “Let’s see you do better” is an obnoxious line. I don’t have to be tech n9ne to know that someones songs are off beat, poorly written, and recorded with no energy. 

we will weed out the people who arent ‘serious’ about their hobby at least.

of course there will be hurt feelings and probably name calling, so how is it different from the rest of the forum already? people are already getting butthurt and calling each other names.

half the shit you say is arguing with someone… in an arguement you started. perhaps you dont see it, but maybe this place makes you angrier than the other forum. or maybe the people on that forum are too soft to say ‘oi lucky, stop being a cunt’.
