​Memphis heavyweight Frayser Boy recently sat down with Pop Austin Media to discuss his legendary career. He shared that his name came directly from his neighborhood. Juicy J and DJ Paul originally only knew him as “the boy from Frayser,” aka, “Frayser Boy.” This moniker stuck as he transitioned from a studio regular to a powerhouse on the Hypnotize Minds roster.
​During the conversation, Frayser explained how he started at the label. Being at the studio for La Chat’s Murder She Spoke album led to his first contract. He also talked about writing the hit “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp” in under an hour. Looking ahead, he revealed he is currently working on a brand-new collaborative album with fellow Memphis icon Skinny Pimp.
