​Sam Rivers wasn’t just the bassist for Limp Bizkit; he was the groove, the anchor, the reason every song felt like a movement. Thinking about his journey—battling through a serious health scare with lymphoma before the band even blew up back in 1995, and the incredible resilience he showed later with his liver disease, even getting a successful liver transplant a few years ago—it really highlights the fighter he was, both on and off the stage. While his passing has been confirmed, no official details have been released regarding the cause of death.
​It’s a huge loss, but his music and the memories he helped create will always live on.

Limp Bizkit’s music has been a constant in my life, and I have my mom to thank for that. She introduced me to them when I was just a preteen, when they were still touring their first album and things were raw. They quickly became one of the three main pillars of my preteen and teen years, alongside Insane Clown Posse and Korn. Those three groups defined the sound of that time for me. And of those three, Limp Bizkit is the one group that has never released an album I didn’t like. Even when Wes Borland left and they dropped Results May Vary—and later when they completely switched gears for The Unquestionable Truth—I continued to follow them. When everyone else turned their back, I still loved everything they did and have done.

​The stories and connections are endless. I still laugh thinking about getting in trouble in middle school for wearing that Limp Bizkit shirt that said “Got Nookie” on the back. It was always more than just music; it was a culture, an identity, and a rhythm, and Sam was essential to that rhythm.
