The independent  nerdcore hip-hop genius that is MC Lars has announced that his next project will be the upcoming concept album  entitled ‘The Edgar Allan Poe’ LP! And the album has already Kickstarted over twenty-one thousand dollars from fans pledging their support to crowdfund the LP! There isn’t an official release date yet. It began with “Mr. Raven” back in 2004 — a remix of the Raven through a lit-hop lens. That song kicked off a gothic rap journey that’s lasted over twenty years: an EP, Poe tracks across most of my albums, TEDx talks, workshops, a show at Carnegie Hall, and even a master’s thesis on Poe and hip-hop education.

Now I’m going all in — my first full-length Edgar Allan Poe concept album. The first of its kind. Dark beats. Smart bars. Poe reimagined for the 21st century.

This is for fans of “Annabel Lee R.I.P.”, for anyone who’s studied meter with “Flow Like Poe”, or shouted “Mr. Raven!” with me at a show. This album is the culmination of decades of teaching, performing, and remixing America’s original goth.

To make it happen, I need your help.

I’ve got spooky-good rewards: Poe merch, handwritten lyrics, custom verses, shirts, hoodies, CDs, lyric books — even classroom Zoom lectures if you want me to teach Poe live. All shipped DIY, straight from my crypt — I mean, studio.

I’m keeping the tracklist and features secret for now… but expect the unexpected.
