Astronomicon 8 wrapped up another fantastic extended weekend yesterday.  One of the final events of the weekend was the always entertaining and informative Twiztid Panel!  Madrox and Monoxide always come there with a list of things to discuss, but it usually goes off the rails and ends up being hilarious!  There was a point during the panel where Monoxide was laughing/wheezing so hard that I thought we were going to lose him.  🤣

Now we need to talk about what was covered.  They went through everything from the recently announced Freekshow 25 Year Anniversary Tour, re-recording albums such as Freekshow and the original Chainsmoker LP, having a Dark Lotus LP already recorded, a new graphic novel, and so much more! I was typing as I listened to the panel, so hopefully most of this makes sense to you.  Here’s a list of notes!

Welcome to your Funeral

• Album name was revealed at last year’s Astronomicon
• Jamie mentions that if you bookend their first record and their last record, you can see that it’s the same band just evolving

Solo projects: Chainsmoker II

• Paul said he was in a really bad place on tour when his blood pressure was up and his heartbeat was irregular.
• he pushed through it until a Vegas stop and said it broke him.
• took 4-5 months to get things right and used that time to put together Chainsmoker II
• said he wanted to do something that made the company proud. He absolutely loves Chainsmoker II
• Went to Denver, CO and performed it because he said it’s the hardest place to perform due to the altitude
• Wants to tour Chainsmoker II so he can make enough money to pay for the movie they’ve been working on without needing anyone else.
• Started to re-record the original Chainsmoker because he’s “tired of playing with motherfuckers”
• Might release a Chainsmoker box set because he’s got so much material.
• He said that fans dug the shit out of it. He says he’s always Twiztid, #1, but loves how this turned out
• Said Madrox is prolific and can be working on 2 full-length LPs and an EP at the same time

Fam Appreciation and other projects

• Madrox and Monoxide are extremely appreciative of the relationships they’ve built with people from fans, to others they’ve networked with.
• Monoxide and Madrox says nothing can touch the Juggalos. We are wanted by so many bands and we are all theirs!
• House of Krazees is special to a lot of people, so it’s fulfilling to be able to add another layer to it with a new album.
• Freekshow 25th Anniversary Tour

New Twiztid graphic novel in the works

• It’ll be called Mayhem Manor
• company called Z2 who has worked with Doors, Machine Gun Kelly, Ice Nine Kills, more!
• Graphic novels have been shaped like vinyl LPs, and Jamie hinted that the new release may contain a record as well
• This comic is a new story without disconnecting the story of Haunted High Ons
• If Haunted High-Ons was the book, the new graphic novel is the movie about it.

Re-recording older Twiztid albums

• Jamie said he’s been in the studio re-recording Freekshow!
• When you record a record, they become property of the label.
• They reached out to the powers that be and couldn’t come up with a deal to get the masters from Freekshow
• Now they will re-record it so all the new fans can enjoy it, and all of the day 1ers can have a refreshed vision of the album.
• Jamie said people don’t need to be offended by them re-recording the album. If you like the original, go listen to the original
• Twiztid was asked what the preparation was to go and re-record Freekshow and Chainsmoker among others
• Monoxide said there’s so much anger behind it, he just wants to get it done.
• Monoxide mentions that album artwork is wrong, songs are out of order, and it’s like someone adopted one of his kids and are beating the shit out of it.
• Madrox said they’re going to make the new baby and name it the other baby’s name. lol
• The host said it’s interesting that Twiztid are being “shamed” for trying to gain ownership of their masters.
• Madrox responds to say it’s part of the business but one of their biggest motivating factors.
• Monoxide said there’s nothing about “blackmail” about trying to get their albums. They joke that the word “blackmail” was used incorrectly and say it’s like saying the jerseys they are wearing are “sublicated”. Monoxide dies laughing for a good 2 minutes.

DARK LOTUS

• Madrox said there are a lot of Lotus songs that have been recorded for over a year and a half
• They may eventually be released!
• Nobody’s uninvited to the party. If all members want to be a part of it, they are welcome!
• Madrox mentions Van Halen, AC/DC, etc that have restructured their members and been successful
