This is teary eyed news but also uplifting. For those who’ve been down with Gwar over the last three decades or so, for sure know that David Brockie (RIP) was one of the founding members of Gwar back in 1984. And upon founding the dismembering of life-size puppets band, Mr. Brockie was first the rhythm guitarist, but switched over to vocals in 1986. Sadly David “Oderus Urungus” Brockie passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2014 and Gwar’s legacy continues to thrive without him as Davie would’ve wanted Gwar to do. Now over five years later, the current members of Gwar have finally unveiled a proper memorial gravesite for the late Brockie. The memorial is located at the Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, VA where Brockie resided. Now fans and fellow musicians can visit to show their condolences to Davie Brockie in person. Matthew Cutter, a Faygoluvers.net supporter has informed us that the sword on Davie’s tombstone says “Thank you come again” in Tolkien’s dwarvish runes. Wow!
From Gwar Across Social Media:
“It’s been a long time coming, but we finally have a place to remember Dave Brockie. #GWAR #DaveBrockie @HollywoodCem #RVA”
