NEHip-Hop.com Interviews Mono from Twiztid

The homies over at NEHip-Hop.com have just released their 52 minute audio interview with Monoxide of TWIZTID! In this interview, Mono discusses plans for a new clothing line, movie, The Walking Dead, and 5 artists they’re about to sign to Majik Ninja Entertainment!

You can listen to the interview via Youtube below:

We went through and listened to the interview prior to its release (thanks to Ray of NE-HipHop) and put together a list of bulletpoints from it.  If you want to see what’s covered, check it here:

  • “The Darkness” being the highest-charting and longest-lasting album they’ve ever released
  • What it’s like running a label and doing everything themselves
  • Will sign artists to MNE who can be groomed to run their careers the right way.
  • MNE almost ready to announce 5 new artists!  3 from Cali, 1 from New York, 1 from Detroit.  Just have to wrap up some legalities
  • Monoxide’s eye for talent and how he tried to bring Rittz, Yelawolf, Snow the Product, Hopsin, Eminem to Psychopathic Records
  • Said that these signings would have changed the history of music
  • Twiztid’s history with Eminem
  • There will be “extreme quality control” with artists on MNE. It’s not about gimmicks, race, etc, it’s all about TALENT
  • Twiztid will take a back seat after 2015 and concentrate on their roster
  • Twiztid will also be working on a movie next year, launching a radio show, and hope to get their own satellite radio show.
  • After leaving Psychopathic, they have had tons of offers and licensing deals being thrown at them.  Some are great, while others…not so much. They will maintain brand integrity
  • Twiztid plans on bringing horrorcore to the mainstream properly.
  • April is Twiztid Fam Appreciation month! Instead of pocketing their proceeds, they put most of their money back into the operation to give the best possible products and experiences for the money!
  • Twiztid has turned down several offers from major tours and festivals to maintain their integrity
  • Wanted to focus on just Twiztid after leaving Psychopathic, but were quickly inspired to start their own label.
  • Merch discussion and thoughts of a new clothing line that has nothing to do with Twiztid as artists (similar to what Kanye’s doing, but affordable)
  • Twiztid shoes and the process they went through to make them
  • Growing up poor and how music saved them
  • Performing Mostasteless from start to finish at the Mystery Show
  • Monoxide’s favorite music that has dropped recently: Kendrick Lamar
  • Other artists he’d like to work with (Action Bronson, Wale, Tyga, J Cole)
  • Everything that’s wrong with WorldStarHipHop
  • Thoughts on The Walking Dead finale and first impressions of the spinoff series
  • Words of Wisdom

Its a trip to think that Twiztid tried to get Eminem signed to psychopathic. Would he have blown up the same way he did? would he have left after he blew up? Would he have been ICPs little pit bull doing diss tracks to the mainstream? He would have been a perfect fit… instead they gave zug island and ABK a shot lol no hate but they bet on the wrong horse.

Eminem realy didnt blow til he hooked up with Dre tho….No Dre,No Slim Shady.Em sounded more like early Atmosphere with the way he flipped it back in the day.Lyrical,Spiracle,Miracle shit.Listen to Infinite…The way I see it.Dre is Slim’s version of MEC.

Oh for sure it wouldn’t have been the same. He wouldn’t have a blank check for his projects on PSY like he does on Aftermath. But he raps about all the same killing lunatic drug addict shit that fits right at home on PSY. He still would have killed shit but its hard to say if anyone would take him seriously being on a label ran by a bunch of clowns lol thats definitely a reason why its hard for them to land good new acts, besides washed up talent from the 90s aka Vanilla Lice and Big Doo Doo,

I wonder if the artist from Detroit is The R.O.C.? If it’s another Detroit act, I’d like to see TDF get a shot. And see them get Myz, JR, Hpe, and KFV.
