Rapper Tiny Doo faces life in prison over song lyrics

While you may not know anything about Brandon “Tiny Doo” Duncan, a rapper based out of California, his story could very well affect you.  Tiny Doo has spent 8 months in prison already, and could potentially get 25 years to life for writing and recording lyrics on his latest album.  The charge?  Benefiting from crimes committed by a criminal street gang.  So did Tiny Doo actually go out and commit a crime?  The crime(s) in question actually involve a rash of shootings in San Diego from 2013.

Prosecutors aren’t even saying that he pulled the trigger.  He doesn’t even have a criminal record.  The best evidence that prosecutors can muster up is as follows:

Prosecutors point to Tiny Doo’s album, “No Safety,” and to lyrics like “Ain’t no safety on this pistol I’m holding” as examples of a “direct correlation to what the gang has been doing.”

You can read the full story via CNN here: http://www.cnn.com/2015/01/23/entertainment/tiny-doo-rap-conspiracy-charges/

In another case that seems to shit all over the first amendment, a Hawaiian freestyle rapper named Kainoa Silva said the words “I Will Kill You” in a freestyle battle, and has actually done jail time because of it.  In the article from TheFreeThoughtProject.com, they liken Mr. Silva’s lyrics to those of Eminem, who has made a career out of rapping about controversial topics in his music.

These are scary times for everyone with thoughts and opinions that may not sit well with others.  Should both of these cases lead to more jail/prison time for the artists, it sets a dangerous precedent going forward.

You can actually sign a petition in support of Tiny Doo by clicking the link below:

They are just 900 or so away from their goal of 20,000, so like, share, and help him out!  Thanks for reading, and much love!

This case really made me concerned. If District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis wins this case it would have a ripple effect throughout the music industry including the Juggalo/horrorcore realm. Noting all the heat the FBI has been giving us lately, imagine the havok they could reek after this case is won. So if you’re willing to add your name to the petition, please do. MCL

So fictional stories in books are fine if they’re based on actual events, but somehow rap lyrics are different? Stephen King should be serving consecutive life sentences if these rappers are imprisoned merely for words another second.

let me get this straight, he has connections to a gang that committed murders?

the prosecution has evidence from his social media posts that links him to said gang.

he’s benefitting off of that gangs activity.

    theres a law against it.

yeah, I’m not signing shit. everyone should just stop rapping, who the fuck even listens to dipshits like this guy? go ahead and cry about freedom of speech, well 99.99999% of us don’t want to hear your bullshit “artistic expression” especially if you cant separate yourself from anyone else “rapping”
