New Boondox Interview *Faygoluvers Exclusive*

It’s been over TWO YEARS since Faygoluvers has had the chance to speak with Boondox, and now we’ve got a brand new interview with The Scarecrow for you to all check out!  Juggalotus normally covers about 20 minutes with each artist that he interviews, but things were flowing along so nicely that he and Dox came in at just over 30 minutes of interview flavor!

In this Faygoluvers exclusive, Boondox talks about the Back from the Dead Tour with Blaze Ya Dead Homie, the long-rumored Turncoat Dirty album, plans for the Gathering of the Juggalos this year, his origins and inspirations as a music artist, the next Boondox album, his status in Rydas, and much more!  Take a listen to the interview via Youtube below:

Nice interview! Not a big Dox fan myself, but always good to hear what the artists have to say.

I hate to go here and I’m not hating on you or anything like that, but to offer some criticism of your interviewing: stop unnecessarily saying negative shit. I’m not at all saying to steer away from negative shit if/when it’s pertinent to a question–obviously that will sometimes be your duty as a journalist–but when you talk about a TurnCoat Durty album not coming out you say, “I was like ‘man what the hell?'” That’s rude. It’s nice that you would’ve liked to see one but if it’s not coming out then this isn’t the place to express aggravation about it. Don’t say that some Juggalos were mad that “Abaddon” didn’t sound like “The Harvest.” There’s ways you can phrase your questions so that you’re asking the exact same question without the implication that he might be doing something wrong. Just say, “What kind of feedback have you been getting about it sounding so differently?” Don’t say you were “disappointed” that he wasn’t performing with the Rydas at the GOTJ. You could ask why he didn’t, but leave your personal feelings out of it. When he gives the answer about Underground Avengers, don’t say “You just broke a lot of Juggalos’ hearts.” I understand that it’s a casual interview but there’s no reason to bring him down. Don’t say “a lot of Juggalos feel like Tech N9ne sold out,” because a) you don’t want to speak for your listeners, and b) there’s zero reason to slip in a Tech burn. Again I’m not AT ALL saying you need to pull any punches or give a soft ball interview. I’m saying there are ways you can phrase certain things to get the best possible answers and build rapport with someone who took time out of his day to talk with you.

Also, you missed some opportunities for follow up questions. When he says he’d do the Rydas depending on what they wanna do with it, that’s an interesting answer. Get some more information there. What are some things they might do with it that would make or break his wanting to be involved?

If it seems like I’m nitpicking then just ignore it but it sounds like you haven’t done a lot of big interviews like this. If I’m wrong and you’ve interviewed dozens of big names then that’s a problem but based on this interview I’m willing to bet you’re pretty new at it. I don’t want you to think I’m being a dickhead because I’m not. I’ve been in broadcast journalism for years and as a Juggalo I just wanna share anything I have to offer with fellow Juggalos like you so that we all do the best we can.

Thanks for the feedback Mitchell. I am not an expert at interviews by a long shot and definitely accept criticism. I appreciate you checking out the interview and hope you check out the other I have done. I have interviewed quite a few bigger names in the Underground. I don’t feel any of my comments were rude and after the interview I did speak with Dox and he was cool with how it went. While I do not speak for all listeners I do hear a ton of feedback and feel it is important for an artist to know all opinions, not just the positive ones. Once again I appreciate your feedback.

And in response to the tech comment, I have always been and always will be a full supporter of Tech and what he is doing. I think he gets unfairly treated a lot of the time. So there was no Tech dig in that question at all. I was simply using his critics opinion as the base of a question to get Dox’s feedback on the subject.
