Movie Pilot Interviews Jamie Madrox of Twiztid

Movie Pilot recently got the chance to talk with Jamie Madrox of Twiztid. In this interview Madrox discusses Twiztid’s latest tour, “The Darkness,” Majik Ninja Entertainment, horror films, and more.

You can check out the full interview below.

From Movie Pilot:

Twiztid has been around and doing their thing and making music for awhile now, everything from Horror rap to hardcore Hip Hop and even some just plain hilarious and fun stuff. I recently got to talk with Jamie Madrox and he gave me some great insight into what’s going on in Twiztid’s world right now, so let’s jump into that.

First of all let me say thanks for taking the time to talk to us. I’ve been a fan myself since the 90s.

Madrox: We appreciate you taking the time to talk to us as well. Thanks for real.

No problem, so you guys are currently on tour, how’s that been going?

Madrox: Thankfully the tour has been going really well… we have a good family vibe going with our support acts Kung Fu Vampire and Neurotic November. Its like we are a traveling unit that is bringing the most ultimate power packed show each and every place we go. And judging by the crowds in attendance and the looks of happiness on their faces at the end of each show we are doing just that.

That’s awesome! so any special things planned for your Halloween show this year?

Madrox: Halloween is and always will be special to us, so we like to go all out for sure! I don’t wanna spoil anything but i will say if you are or have been contemplating on going… get yourself a ticket and come Rock The Dead with us! It will definitely be one event of the year you won’t want to miss!

I need to go to one for sure! Your new album is set to release in a few months, this album is a big deal for you guys. Can you share any info about the release and tell us what this album means to you?

Madrox: our forthcoming record entitled “the Darkness” is set to be the second release from our brand new record label Majik Ninja Entertainment so to start there and say “wow” is where I’m at. We finally have our own record label and are going to be releasing our first full length album as Twiztid on it. I’m amazed and excited to say the absolute least. As for the record “the Darkness” it’s just that… very dark, moody and immensely creepy. We took a back to our roots approach I would say, kicking story songs and really themeing this record. I think our listeners are really gunna dig it.

It sounds like a great release. Any other news on the independent record label you guys are starting that you would like people to know?

Madrox: My brother likes to say that we are trying to bring the next 25 years of music and I like the sound of that. We are very goal oriented about business but we also appreciate the fun aspects as well like limited releases and putting the collect-ability back into our slice of the music industry.

So obviously there is a lot of horror influence in your music, what are some of your favorite horror films?

Madrox: The original “The Amityville Horror” (1979) “Amityville II: The Possession” (1982) “Evil Dead II” (1987), “Night of the Demons” (1988), and of course the entire “Friday the 13th” & “Halloween” movie series from beginning to present to name a few.

Right On! Night of the Demons is one of my top favorites, totally underrated film. So you guys have been in a couple movies and web series, any desire to do another acting role?

Madrox: Absolutely, we love the whole acting thing, it’s always a good time. We have been working on a few scripts for our movie production company “Better Than Books” that we plan to act in as well as a few scripts that we don’t …and we have even talked about trying our hand at directing. I would like to say the sky is the limit with us but outer space seems much more fitting.

With other musical artists stepping into the filmmaking industry have you guys ever thought about making a horror movie? Rob Zombie has done a few original works and the halloween remakes, I think we would all love to see a Twiztid version of Friday the 13th.

Madrox: Yeah that would rock for sure. And yes we have been talking about doing a horror movie for quite some time now. It’s just a matter of us finishing out the script and beginning the journey that is making a movie … lol, soon.

That would be a must see for sure! Is there anything else you would like to say to your fans reading this. Or too the people who are just now finding out about your music?

Madrox: To the ones who know us and support us… I would like to say thank you Family ….without you, there would be no us!

To the ones who don’t know us and are wondering if we are as demented and amazing as the others have said… I’ll put it like this, over a million people world wide can’t be wrong … can they?

Well thanks again! Keep dominating the underground and good luck with your future projects.

Madrox: Thanks for your time.

A lot of great responses here and i had a blast doing this interview, i hope everyone enjoyed reading it!
