Scrub Club Records to Host Video Game Marathon Tonight to Benefit Children’s Miracle Network

DeadBilly from over at Hatchet Radio sent this to me early this morning and I thought it deserved a post. It seems the crew over at Scrub Club Records is gearing up for a 25 hour video game marathon that starts at Midnight (CST) tonight. They’re not just playing games though, they’re raising money for the Extra Life organization, a charity designed to benefit institutions such as Children’s Miracle Network. There are over 3,400 teams participating, some raising tens of thousands of dollars, by having people sponsor them at x amount of dollars for each hour of video games played, up to 25 hours. All proceeds are donated to a Children’s Miracle Network hospital of the Team’s choice. Last year, Extra Life raised over $2.3 million for CMN.

Last year Team Scrub Club raised $1,700, and this year they’re looking to double that. Unfortunately, they’re only at about $300 so far. With a little less than 13 hours to go, they’re asking for help from anyone who can contribute to sponsor one of their team members. Here’s an excerpt from their Team bio:

We are Scrub Club Records, the world’s first and only independent, not-for-profit, open source music and gaming label! All of our music is released for free, and we run only on our listener’s donations. Currently, our albums have been downloaded over a quarter of a million times, and our worldwide supporter base is growing faster than ever before.

We are on a mission to save kids through video games (as strange as that may first sound), and we need your help! Each Scrub Club artist or supporter listed below has chosen a Children’s Miracle Network hospital local to them where thousands of children are treated each year, regardless of their family’s ability to pay. These kids are facing horrible stuff like cancer, cystic fibrosis, and injuries from accidents, just to name a few.
