Jamie Madrox Discusses “A New Nightmare”, Doing Another Movie and More

Richard Amery from Labeat.com recently caught up with Jamie Madrox for a discussion while Twiztid are touring Canada. In this discussion Jamie speak about leaving Psychopathic, their new album “A New Nightmare”, possibly doing another movie, Rob Zombie, fan support and more.

From labeat.ca:

Detroit horror hip hop duo Twiztid is coming to haunt Studio 54 in Lethbridge, Sept. 21 with  Blaze Ya Dead Homie and Aqualeo.

Jamie Maddox, one half of the long standing duo is enjoying the tour on their new CD, “A New Nightmare”  their first  since parting ways from Psychopathic Records.
“ The shows varies per the night. But we’re really pleased, the energy levels have been through the roof,” Madrox said. He and Monoxide make up Twiztid.

“We‘re like a horror show on wax, except you can’t say that now. We’re a horror show on CD,” he described.

“They come and freak out with us, we provide a release, they have a good time and then they go back to life,” he continued.

Twiztid signed to Psychopathic Records, the home in the Insane Clown Posse, who took them under their wings in 1997,. They left the label after last year’s record “Abominationz” and released their new record “A New Nightmare” earlier  this year.
“We decided to leave. There comes a time where you have to leave your parents’ basement, grab your nuts and go out into the world,” he said adding Twiztid has evolved since joining Psychopathic.

They still have mad respect for the Insane Clown Posse.
“We were their proteges. We learned a lot from them. They showed us the ropes. We’re like sponges, so we soak up a lot just by hanging out with people,” he enthused.

Their new CD shows their continued evolution.
“We had some stuff left after the Abominationz record. This is the next level. We don’t want to be a band that puts out the same record as  before, but  this one also has a lot of the stuff that got us where we are,” he said adding Twiztid’s lyrics, which can be  dark and disturbing about crime, criminals and serial killers, are a little more light hearted on this  CD.

“ We like to keep things interesting. This  one is a lot of fun. there are a lot of topics on it,” he said.

The new record has a lot of special guests including the Swollen Members.
“ We were in touch with Prevail. We really respect what they are doing. We like how they fight the good fight, they put what they have out there. He’s a hella chill dude, so I’m sure we’ll work with them again,” he said.

He said their fans have supported their evolution.
“So far, so good. I  think people support us no matter what we do. They show their love for us no matter what we do. That’s the true definition of love,” he said.

Twiztid have an exciting  few months coming up.
“Fur us, there’s a talk of doing another film and a another record, so we’ll play rock, paper, scissors and whoever wins, we’ll either do a new movie or a new record,” he said.
They also have their annual Fright Fest on Oct. 20 which features a lot of  horror movie icons and performers like Aqualeo, Blaze-Ya-Dead Homie and Madchild.

But before that, they have a couple tour dates with Rob Zombie.

“We’re going on his American Nightmare Tour on Oct, 12. That’s going to be so amazing. I’ve been into Rob Zombie since he was in White Zombie in a four piece band. We love Rob. He’s one of those guys who does what he wants and says fuck you if you don’t like it, he’s going to be himself no matter what anybody says,” he enthused.

He said Twiztid shares that attitude.
“We’re going to do what we want no matter what anybody says. You don’t have to listen to us, but my opinion is you’re going to be missing out on something special,” he said.
