Starting the night was Cool Nutz, a Portland, OR native and veturn to the hip hop game brought a new energy Des Moines has not scene. For the first time being here the crowd the excitement you could see in his stage show and presence. Recently dropped “Elegant Thuggin” his set was a great old school west cost vibe.
With “2 Birds 1 Stone” about to drop Stevie Stone graced the stage with so much energy people didnt know how to control them selves. Rollin through hits like “Wait A Minute”, “Momentum”, “808 Bendin” and new songs from the upcoming album had the crowd jumpin with 100% focus on his stage show. Des Moines, IA was “DIPPED IN BUTTER” as Stevie Stone clams..
With 4 of 6 members out on the Summer Of Strange tour ¡Mayday! still showed why they were signed to Strange Music. Wrekonize, Bernz, Gianni Cash and NonMS are there to show some Miami flavour to everyone. The rhythm of the beats, bass, percussion with the duo vocalists over top floored everyone. The raw talent this band has, will surely light a dancing fire under your belt. “Roaches”, “Hardcore Bitches”, “Devil On My Mind”, “Darker Shades” were some that had crowd singing word for word along with Bernz and Wrekonize. By far one of my favorite Strange Music artists to date.
“Kali Baby!” came over the sound system. In return was 70+ people cheering back for Krizz Kaliko to take the stage. Emerging from the backstage the explosive Strange Music veteran was exposed to the room packed with people waiting for him and his voice. Kaliko has one of the most known voices I think in the underground. Whether hitting the verses with some crazy rhymes, or his signing on a hook, people love him. With the help of Oobergeek “Gumbo”, “Anxiety”, “Spaz” were the most known Kaliko tracks. Then they broke out “Imma Play”, “Areola” & “Dysfunctional” for the crowd went crazy..
The Summer Of Strange by far one of the hardest hitting underground tours to come our. The “machine” Strange Music never seem to disapoint.
