A new article popped up today over at HotNewHipHop.com featuring Funk Volume‘s Dizzy Wright. The article discusses his upcoming mixtape, ‘The Golden Age‘ and the influences behind it, as well as some of the features on it and the artwork itself. They also announced that the new mixtape will be released exclusively with HotNewHipHop on August 19th, and can be streamed at the following page on its release date:

“You can expect to hear my Funk Volume family on there,” he said. “I’ve got Wyclef [Jean] on there as well.”…He kept the Funk Volume appearances under wraps, but there’s a good chance Jarren Benton and SwizZz will be contributing. As for the elusive Hopsin, we’ll just have to wait and see. Also, although he didn’t touch on this, Kid Ink and Honey Cocaine are rumored to be involved.
…both the sound, sampling and subject matter of the record harken back to early 90s Hip Hop, but he’s making sure to keep it relevant by today’s standards as well…and emphasized the importance of storytelling in its creation. “It was inspired, mainly, by the storytelling of the 90s,” he explained.
The cover art depicts a pregnant mother, naked and serene, pressing a set of headphones against her transparent belly. In the background, there are scattered cassette tapes, weed plants, and a large vinyl record framing it all. Everything is detailed in black and gold. It’s a direct homage to the Golden Era of Hip Hop…
