McFondle the Clown's Heavy Makeup Parking Lot

Last week I was asked by the Stranger to don my clown suit and go interview the Juggalos outside the ICP show. I gladly accepted as I’m always up for a party. I did have some reservations. I have a few friends who are Juggalos but I’ve also heard the stories of the homeless kid, Juggalo “gangs” stabbing and jumping people downtown and read/seen all the horror stories online. I should state that though I am a clown, who raps, and wrestles. I am not a Juggalo. I was never exposed to much of their music and honestly just didn’t get into the stuff I did hear. People often think I am one because of all the similarities but I always say I am not. Not because I have beef or anything. Just because I don’t want to be a poser. It’s not a scene I’m part of so I don’t claim the title.

I did some research and watched too many documentaries and videos online of Juggalos all wasted acting a fool and saying dumb shit. Not one of the Juggalos I’ve ever met has been a pregnant girl smoking a cigarette or talking about how she can’t wait to give birth so she can do meth again. They have been genuinely nice people who like to get a little crazy sometimes, maybe throw on a costume and get silly drunk at a concert. Not much different from most of my non-Juggalos friends really. If you interview a hundred drunk people at any show you can edit the clips of the worst of the worst and make a “documentary” about how ” drunk, white trash” punks, metal heads, hippies, hell country music fans are.
So with this in mind I went down to the show with my lovely videographer Kharla. Within 5 minutes I had met a group of guys out front who were all laughs and smiles. They also were (kind?) enough to give me my first Faygo shower. Of many…

As we walked down the line I was amazed at how cool everyone was.

It reminded me of being in the parking lot outside of the punk shows in high school or the Iron Maiden concert at the White River Amphitheater.

I may not have musical taste in common with these guys and girls but we quickly found a lot of common ground in the form of enjoying the sunset, booze and weed smoke in the parking lot with the anticipation of a crazy night ahead.

The openness they showed to me and Kharla being outsiders at our first Juggalo show was amazing. I have never gone into a show before not knowing anyone but knowing, hugging and dancing with half of them by the end of the night. I didn’t get an ounce of the clickish, snobbery I’ve seen and experienced at way to many shows and in way too many scenes over the years.

I met some really great people that day. One guy even randomly ended up at my birthday party the next night and we exchanged info. I have already been keeping in touch with a few “Lo’s” & “Lette’s” I met that day and think I will be seeing them again soon.

A far as the show itself, as I said, I’m not a big fan of ICP’s music but I can appreciate people having fun onstage and putting on a exciting live show with high production value. I will give it to them that they have that in spades. I’m not going to hate on anybody for doing their thing wether it moves me or not

Of course there were some wasted idiots and white trash there, but none more so than me.

Thanks Family for showing this clown a good time!
