We got hit earlier today with a heads up telling us that a Kung Fu Vampire interview is being featured right now over at MurderDog.com. The interview is quite lengthy, but gives a great insight into Kung Fu’s personal life, his mental attitude, and his future plans. Probably some of the most exciting news was his announcment of a new album, sometime around the end of 2013/beginning of 2014. Here’s what he had to say about that:
“The next album I am doing will be done slow because I’m taking my time…I will release one song a month for the next six months as well as a music video for each…Every month it’s going to be a different video and alongside of that will be…a new single off the new album. By the time I am eight songs in I will release an album. It will probably come out at the end of 2013 or the beginning of 2014”
As far as a concept for the album, he has none yet, however he stated that he’s thinking about doing a more positive album, with more of a “monk” persona. He explains the balance between Good and Evil in his music, and how the “Kung Fu” part of his name symbolizes a positive free-thinking spirit while the “Vampire” represents the dark gritty side. While the Vampire persona is what’s popular at the moment, he plans to broaden his range of hip hop styles, so that he can play for more audiences. Although he has strong respect for fellow “slice-and-dice” horrorcore artists, Kung Fu “[doesn’t] always feel like talking about blood and guts.” He continued by saying, “I like to make my music dark without talking about gory shit. I want it to feel eerie without having to say it.”
