For those of you ninjas who have been sleeping on Funk Volume (if you have, wake up!), there’s been a lot of commotion over at their camp lately. Here’s a little breakdown of what’s been going on, including some exciting updates from Hopsin:

Earlier this month Jarren Benton released his first single, “Razor Blades and Steak Knives,” off his upcoming FV debut album ‘My Grandma’s Basement,’ which is set to release sometime in June of this year.

Also this month, Dizzy Wright released a new single “Killem Wit Kindness.” Dizzy Wright, who was featured by XXL Magazine as one of the 2013 Freshmen, is currently on the road with Kottonmouth Kings on their “Fight to Unite” Tour. Dizzy Wright is also set to perform at this year’s Soundset festival in May, along with Tech N9ne, Snoop Dogg (or is it Lion?), Busta Rhymes, and many more!

Also some of you may remember an interview RapReviews.com conducted with Damien ‘Dame’ Ritter of FV.

On top of that and everything else going on at Funk Volume, including the recent “Don’t Fu[$]k Up Our Beats 5” contest, label veteran Hopsin has been busy as well. As some of you may have noticed, rumors about his long-awaited upcoming album ‘Knock Madness‘ have been surfacing lately, and a few days ago some interesting tweets appeared on his Twitter. Also his Twitter background now bears the words “Knock Madness.. The wait is almost over.”

Although there’s been no official track listing or much other information for ‘Knock Madness,’ Hopsin promises that he’s working hard on this album and it will be his best work yet. Below is a photo he posted up on his Facebook a little while back showing a screenshot of the program (FL Studio) that he was using to arrange a track that appears to be called “Death” or “Death 2.”

Also earlier this evening on his Instagram, and then soon after his Facebook and Twitter accounts, Hopsin revealed that he had spent the day in the studio with Travis Barker and Scoop DeVille working on a track.

2013 is looking like it’s going to be a big year for the Funk Volume team, and at the rate they are going they are soon to be an un-rivaled underground powerhouse. Don’t miss out on all the freshness they have coming at you this year, because as their label’s slogan suggests, they will be “Turning It Up” in the near future.
