On Wednesday August 22, 2007, DJ Just One, 1 ton, and Underrated, Humboldt County’s finest ‘dro chiefing duo, Potluck embarked on their first of what hopefully becomes many headlining tours. The crowd they drew wasn’t enormous in size, (250-260) but it was full of those who were in the mood to hear some real hip-hop music. Tickets are only $14.00 bucks, c’mon now that’s a small price to pay for a truly memorable show. Sure there were some good acts there from the Cleveland underground scene; Psychward and R.I.A. to name a few, but I can honestly say that I was only there to see the Dank Alumni.

If you have a Potluck CD and liked it then you’ll probably hear a song you most enjoy. Their set was extended from an opening 20-30 minutes to a full on, in your face with no regrets 50 minute set spitting flows for your ears to catch with a sonic-boom. Kicking tracks like “Stand Up, Dank Alumni, Funeral, Fire, Just Like You, and Freedom (accapella)”. To grab your attention off of the bat, DJ Just 1 begins spinning the vinyl and Underrated bursts out onto the stage ripping his verse from “What We Are ft. Tech N9ne”. Only moments later are we confronted by the big guy always looking for the closest buffet line, 1 Ton dropping his verse like it was a bit more than “Hot!”

Showing the dedicated crowd how the West Coast rocks, the trio can definitely hold their own keeping the crowd captivated rocking the stage as if they were playing in The Garden for a sold out show. They kept the crowd moving into each song before the previous could end.

Now word around the walls of Peabody’s from a guy who knows a guy is that Potluck, Kottonmouth Kings, and Cypress Hill will all be combining forces to bring forth the largest marijuana-music collaboration that this galaxy or any other has seen in this time or any to come. What is the name of a project so inconceivably, amazing you ask? Well what I found written on a napkin thrown away from the merch booth is “The Cannibus Cartel”. Now this is speculation, of course but let me ask you this, wouldn’t that be the shit?

Back on the subject, if you like Potluck the tickets are cheap! Go get one, the mics are ripped right all night! If you don’t know who they are and seem to be interested peep the previous line. I know I liked it and recommend it if it’s coming to a city near you!
