So, can we talk about this for a second? I remember seeing trailers on TV for The Fear back in the 90’s. To this day I haven’t seen it. Truthfully I’d have forgotten about it if it weren’t for the fact that people always talk about the Mark Walburg film Fear which was released a year later. It took me forever to see that one too, so when people mentioned the latter, I was confused and assumed they were talking about the former. I guess I thought it was a horror movie where Marky Mark squares up against this woodblock looking motherfucker, I dunno.
I watch a lot of horror films, so I just chalked it up to one that has slipped through the cracks for me. But what’s really interesting is The Fear’s soundtrack album, which is almost exclusively horrorcore. Not only that, but it’s a veritable Who’s Who of the genre at the time. Check out this track list:
The Fear (Morty’s Theme) – Esham
Black Peter – Half Pit & Machete
Here Come The Gravediggaz – Gravediggaz
Necrophobia – Headless Horsemen
Better Off Dead – Half Pit Half Dead
Life After Death – Natas
Fear, Flesh & Blood – Machete
Graveyard Tales – Terror
Dead Body Man – Insane Clown Posse
Rocks Off – Esham
Infared’s Terror – Infared
Run – Flatlinerz
Sweet & Saxy (A Moment Of Calm Before You Die) – Kim Waters
Esham, ICP, Gravediggaz and Flatlinerz on one album? These days we call that shit a mixtape. Of particular interest to me is that guy Machete- this dude is so underground that, near as I can tell, these are the only two tracks that this guy has ever released in spite of continuing to make music. Shame because I really dug both tracks that he contributed to this album. What do you guys think? Has anyone seen The Fear? Do they actually use these tracks in the movie? Does the movie suck? Clue a ninja in.

I’ve seen it. Several times. I only watched it back in the day because of the soundtrack. The songs are used in the film if I remember correctly. It’s been a long ass time since I’ve watched it. In any case, I thought it was a pretty decent movie. The 2nd one was lame though.
Chicken Huntin’ is used on The Great White Hype soundtrack and in the movie. ANDDDD if you watch Solaris with George Clooney, there’s a part where you can here a sample from the intro of Riddlebox as well!
