When your retaliation is to abuse your moderator powers because you feel someone is abusing their posting power... That tells me you've got no business being a moderator. You want to achieve the same result without you abusing your own power? Post your song in its own locked thread. That would prevent anyone from spamming in it. Simple solution.

Sean, let it be, man. The way things had gotten on the forums lately; lines were getting crossed that shouldn't be crossed, friendships were finding themselves on shaky ground or being discarded altogether, and as a whole, it had gotten to be too much.

Part of me was finding it entertaining too. Kind of like a horrific car wreck as you drive by. Or the same way you can't look away from a freak show. But this is kind of what I was getting at in another thread where I said we need to do a better job of self-policing. Yeah, still having fun and shit, mostly at each others' expense, but recognizing when a situation is going too far and putting the kibosh on it.

Consider the alternative - let's say Scottie sees one of these shit-fests, and decides FLH, his baby that he created and we only occupy, is doing more harm than good. In response, he brings aboard some forum nazis to moderate this place like any other watered down forum out there. Or worse, he opts to shut the forum portion down entirely. Is risking something of that nature worth taking picking on someone to the level of beating a dead horse, whether people believe he deserves it or not? Ain't it better if we just man up and say "Hey, guys, chill will ya?" every once in awhile?

This isn't about hurt feelings or the freedom to post what we want, when we want, how we want... It's more about being adult enough to maintain some semblance of order, if only to maintain the status quo.

If you or anybody else disagrees, that's your prerogative, and it won't change my opinion of you or make me lose any respect or anything... But that's just kind of the epiphany the recent state of the forums gave me. Nothing more, nothing less.

EDIT: PS: I recognize 100% that even if this ends now, it'll start back up again before long. Cross that bridge when we get there, I say.

I just feel warlock stepped out of line with his comment to lucem, so I'm just writing him off completely. 

I agree wholeheartedly with your second and third statements. What I said above applies forum-wide, I wasn't just talking about this thread. This thread, and how badly it devolved, is only a symptom of the greater disease. I figure if we all just grow up, just a smidgen, everybody would get along a little better and this place would be enjoyable to come to 100% of the time, rather than the 97% it is now - with that 3% consisting of threads like this, like Xombie's thread where we all bashed the living fuck out of him for no reason other than having poor fashion (and common) sense, like the pat/smack throwdowns of the past...

It's unnecessary, and, though entertaining at first, gets old pretty goddamned quick.
