Snak came to town on Thursday night on what he has glossed the “Just Giver” tour, in honor of his new album of the same name. He had two acts with him for the whole tour- Merkules and Jaclyn Gee. Dj Makeaway was the tour DJ. I arrived around 11pm and the last of the local openers were just finishing up. Then, representing fat kids everywhere Big B/Haystak style, was Merkules. It did no take long for him to let the ladies in the house know he was “single and ready to mingle” after tearing off his shirt lol. Here are some pics of his very entertaining set-

Next up was Jaclyn Gee, and she had a very Tali Demon like vibe. She sang most of her songs in a rap style, and although her music was mostly very mellow she was well received by the energetic crowd. Some pics-

Then just before Snak took the stage I went over to the merch booth, bought a cd and snapped a few shots. Shirts were 30 bucks, cd’s were 10 bones-

Then well after midnight Snak finally came on and put on a great show. He is a performer who banters and tells stories between songs, which provided great comedy along with the dope music. Some of my favorite quotes from him-

-“I love Toronto and KOTD, but they better get their cake up if they want me to battle for them. They’ve asked me a lot to do it and they are wasting their time”

-to the guy offering him a full beer at the front of the stage-” I won’t drink that cause it has your pubes in it”

-to the bartender mid show-” Hey bring me up a few ice cold Budweiser’s and ask my merch guy for some of my hard earned merch cash”

-in response to the mosh pit-“finally some testosterone at one of the shows on this tour!”

He also told a story about being offered 10 grand by a label on the west coast for his last album, and that he turned them down and proceeded to make a lot more cash off it releasing it independently himself.
