Sad news has arrived out of the Rhymesayers Entertainment camp. According to a statement obtained by HipHopDX on Thursday (December 31), MF DOOM has passed away. Known to his countless fans as MetalFace, the elusive MC was famous for his hidden identity, lyrical precision and comic-book persona.

“The greatest husband, father, teacher, student, business partner, lover and friend I could ever ask for,” his wife Jasmine wrote. “Thank you for all the things you have shown, taught and given to me, our children and our family. Thank you for teaching me how to forgive beings and give another chance, not to be so quick to judge and write off.

“Thank you for showing how not to be afraid to love and be the best person I could ever be. My world will never be the same without you. Words will never express what you and Malachi mean to me, I love both and adore you always. May THE ALL continue to bless you, our family and the planet.”

DOOM actually died on October 31, but his family chose to wait before making it public. At this time, no cause of death has been revealed. DOOM was 49.

Really fucking shitty.

This just came out 2 weeks ago and I got excited about a possible DOOM / BBNG collab album. Not that there were any plans, afaik, but reading the comments had me all excited about the potential. Crazy to think that he was already dead when this was released..

Dude I always feel ashamed for tearing up when someone famous dies, like I don't want to seem overly dramatic and such. But I just woke up from a little post-work day nap and my wife told me this and I haven't stop tearing up since. Like it wasn't just the brilliant joy of his music, but DOOM was more than a person. Like I suddenly realized that my late brother and I sort of modeled our personas after DOOM. Like I wasn't even aware until now.

I've cried at like 4 artists dying. Hunter Thompson was one. DOOM another. Fucking bizarre.

hes not dead, he spent his entire career pulling publicity stunts like this, like taking a year off and sending impersonators to shows. He has/had disdain for his fans and considered them dumb as fuck and gullible. Would it really be so out of character for him to fake his own death? he dies on halloween and its announced on new years, watch, tommorow he will release a new video with his "Rebirth"
