I doubt there are any avenues that would need to be pursued. If Die Antwoord weren’t consciously aware of Juggalos to begin with, they’re certainly aware of the similarities now and unless everything they say about themselves is complete bullshit they’d love to play the Gathering. If there’s a problem with making it happen I think it would be that Die Antwoord is too expensive. Other than the acts that are obviously willing to play at a discount like Tech and Twiztid, the biggest names at the Gathering last year were Wacka Flocka Flame, Machine Gun Kelly, Flosstradamus, In This Moment. I would think Die Antwoord draws/costs quite a bit more than bands in that category.
I’m a big fan of Die Antwoord and have been following this storyline closely. I think it’s legit that Jumpsteady really wants get them and would break the bank to do it. But even with Jumpsteady breaking the bank, Die Antwoord would still probably have to be willing to take a pay cut to do it. Which they fucking should.

Dope DOD plays similar European festivals to Die Antwoord if my youtube game isn’t lying to me or im completely mistaken. Im sure the latter plays later but still…Only reason its not possible is if they aren’t interested…nuff said.
"Somewhere theres a Waffle House thats severely understaffed right now" -OCJ to Scruffy watching a second stage act at the Gathering.

According to some listing in Variety magazine that’s on the Internet, yelawolf, wacka flocka and mafia 6 are all in the $25k range for a show. Thats the high end for gathering acts. Die antwoord isn’t listed but I will guess they get more than twice that. Imma look around for it

I think there’s probably a huge difference between what the headliners get as compared to other acts. But I agree with your point and would take it a little further too- there are a ton of Juggalos who would love to have Die Antwoord at the gathering, PSY will bend over backwards to make it happen, so if die antwoord won’t do it even for less money than they normally get that’s on them and fuck em.

Who knows how legit this is but bookingagency.com lists die antwoord in the “under $100k” category. By way of comparison Public Enemy is “under $75k,” ice cube and ice t “under $50k,” in this moment “under $25k”. Assuming that site isn’t total bullshit die antwoord is a much bigger name than who they usually get for the gathering. Still they should fucking do it.

When I saw Die Antwoord awhile back it was pretty clear that they’re super popular right now. The crowd was a weird mix of hip hop heads, scrubs, people that were wearing poor clothes ironically and people that had no idea who they were but they heard one song played on the radio or something. Even if they are going for “under 100k”, which seems an odd way to word that so that site probably isn’t legit, within a year or two that number will drop WAY the fuck down. They’re getting their fifteen minutes for now and will be the “are they still around” group soon enough. Once that happens I imagine they’ll happily do the Gathering. But for now, they’d probably want way too much to play it.

That’s definitely a good point that the more their popularity fades, the quicker they’ll be answering Jumpsteady’s texts.
Even if they’re still drawing pretty well, I think Die Antwoord are definitely already on the way down in terms of popularity- their album Ten$ion from a got a whole lot more attention than the one they put out last year did, and that movie Chappie they were in seems like it was kind of a flop.
