I am curious to know the opinion of our readers on this topic.
Mars is one of the creators of Juggalonews. I recently saw they were posting a ton of album reviews. The one that stuck out the most to me was the new Koshir “Ugly” album. So here is my question, with Koshir being on Mad Insanity do you think Juggalonews can give a non-bias review of his album? If the reviewer rips the album to shreds the “Owners” ie Mad Insanity Records can fire them. I read the review and as I expected it was nothing but a glowing review. Here is a sampling of what they thought:
“Koshir, a new music artist on Mad Insanity Records has an album guaranteed to please fans of all genres. Ugly is without a doubt an amazing album that has a lot of people talking.”
“With so many features of skilled music artists and Koshir giving you an opportunity to jam to some of the best tracks you’ll ever hear with music artists that will be sure to please”
So the question is Can a “news” site owned and operated by a record label give a fair and honest assessment of an artists album on their label?

sure.
but not that site, apparently.
side note: that review must be exceedingly sorry, considering how amazing the album is supposed to be. shit reads like it was written by a mary kay saleswoman.
hell, that second quote is a sentence fragment.
awfully paranoid, arent you?

Good point, Mars. Thanks for chiming in.
Anyways, Mars is clearly using the site to promote his own artists to juggalos. Is that a surprise? Why else would he have bought the site?
Still though, is that any worse than the advertisement splash page on faygoluvers? At least JN is giving a “review” and pretending that they’re promoting it because it’s awesome or whatever, FLH is only promoting MMMFD because they paid for it.

It is true that the splash page is for advertising. If you look at our review section you will see honest reviews of albums and the people who get reviews are not paying anything for that exposure :) I respect what JN is doing and understand their business plan, I was just curious at the thoughts of other Los and Lettes. Plus knowing how you feel about other sites reviewers can only help me improve the reviews I do on here.
