Just so you know, the guy who wrote Prince of Thieves (The Town), Chuck Hogan. Co-authored a kick ass vampire trilogy with Guillermo del Toro. They explain all of the physiological changes that take place when the virus or whatever gets into the hosts body. Tons of great vocab builders. The Strain (1st book) is definitely the strongest of the series though.
