Anyone watch it yet? thoughts on it? That mother fucker is almost three hours long and I still wanted more. Very faithful recreation of the book…

Robots can totally do math. Robots run on math. Specificaly, Spambots ARE math. They are scripts that run on computers not a physical contraption surfing the net, spamming forums. The root problem is that the math problem you solve to post is a highlightable field. It’s as easy as 1-2-3 for a script to copy the field, solve the math, and post the answer. It can do it hundreds of times faster than you can. The solution is a bitter pill. The Captcha. While robots can do math with no problem, as of now they have an almost impossible time with abstract or stylized script. They can not highlight the field and they can not read the text. Problem is, Captchas are menacing for humans sometimes too. They suck. I hate them, effective as they are at twarting aggressive spam scripting.

oh, uh, about the hobbit…
i always preferred the hobbit to the lord of the rings books. just seemed like a more natural story.
havent seen the movie yet, so have no direct opinions, but ill say that i dont get why it couldnt be done in one shot. rankin/bass already did it, and it was good stuff. i mustve watched my copy of the hobbit about forty times when i was a kid. return of the king, too.
didnt care much for the bakshi feature.
awfully paranoid, arent you?

Thanks for schooling me on that man…I suppose I already knew the answer to my question.Still doesn’t make any sense as to why we have to do the addition in the first place if it doesn’t keep spam away

I can’t get into that hobbit shit Slu, it’s just not for me. The last lord of the rings movie was incredibly gay, especially the end where they’re all smiling at each other like a bunch of happy fags for about a half an hour…….dude, that was it for me and anything with Peter Jackson and hobbits and elves and whatever else dude, he just makes them way too gay. So i’m more than willing to bet that the hobbit has tons of gay undertones and grown men smiling at each other for uncomfortable amounts of time. I’m just not with that shit dude.

LMAO I can dig it..I loved all the movies and all the books myself. Like scruffy was saying I don’t see why the hobbit has to be a trilogy. My only beef with it is in the hobbit movie they turn the reason for entering the mountain into something far more noble than just acquiring treasure. Gandalf is the fucking man though

its not simple burglary? weak.
acquisition of wealth is a perfectly noble motive. no need to soften it up.
[edit] um, you do know that ian mckellan is gay, right? hes most likely in favor of the overtones you were referring to. or undertones, whatever.

Yeah, in the movie the mountain served as the biggest dwarf kingdom, and smaug comes in and throws them out. So basically it’s a quest to get the homeland back.

well, thats kinda how it is in the book, but still mainly burglary.
only thing that really piques my interest about the new flicks would be seeing how they handle the battle of five armies.

Right, in the movie they make a point of it to paint them as nomads who long for a home. Like you said, in the book it’s pretty much strictly about getting the treasure and not so much reclaiming the home that they had lost. It’s kinda hard to explain but they play heavily on it in the movie

I didn’t see it in 48fps so I think I will wait untill I can view it that way. I am excited for it, even though The Hobbit 48fps reviews seemed less than stellar. It seemed this movie overall got panned quite a bit. Only 66% on Rottontomatoes? Ouch. I might wait for the theatrical release of the third film and catch one of those marathons they seem to do now when the last film of a series plays. I am a big fan of the 1977 cartoon. That film is strait tits.
