I’m privy to the Bunnicula series… those My Teacher is an Alien books… my first Playboy’s were Drew Barrymore and Ronald Reagan’s daughter… those Goosebumps were read a lot, but kinda hokey in retrospect… Dr Seuss “Butter Battle Book” muhfuckaz!!… Choose Your Own Adventure, where you pick the wrong page and a dragon is fucking your sister… bring it bibliophiles

I forgot about theres a boy in the girls bathroom! Couldn’t even begin to tell you the plot but I read it at one point. And yeah I would tear up reading WTRFG as a kid. Never saw the movie though.
Did yall have an accelerated reader program at the elementary schools you went to? Just curious if it was a federal program or just a state

I was stuck in Catholic school homie. They had shit like the red group, blue group, yellow group, shit like that. Mostly had us reading shit in literature textbooks. I don’t know if the red group or whatever the top one was could be considered an accelerated reading program, I know the yellow group or whatever was some retarded muthafuckas though. Like the kids who’s parents have to pay extra or something, them. You didn’t wanna be in the yellow group dude, their books had pictures. They did get to play board games though, we didn’t. We had to read and shit.

lmao…The accelerated reader program wasn’t for gifted students or anything it was for everyone. You read books and take these quizzes on the computer. You accumulate points based on how well you did on the quiz and at the end of the month they had a little store full of toys, books, and knick knacks that you could spend your points on. I guess it is just a Kentucky thing
Damn catholic school….fuck that noise

Back when I was younger I read things like Animorphs, Captain Underpants, Goosebumps, Indian in the Cupboard. Those I read at school because its all they had . I was baby sat by a Catholic family, so I ended up reading the Chronicles of Narnia books a lot along with more literature oriented books for children like Charlottes Web, James and the Giant Peach, Jungle Book, Huck Finn. But the books I got as a kid from my parents that I loved the most and still read today are the first Harry Potter book, and the Hobbit.

Charlottes web is another good one. Never got a chance to read the Narnia books for whatever reason.
Another one I forgot to mention is The Outsiders

I remember reading the outsiders dude, that book was bad ass back in the day. Ever see the movie dude? They got Ralp Machio as Ponyboy, the fuckin karate kid, shit. All I remember right now about that shit was they ate balogna and gambled for cigarettes, the rest escapes me at the moment, but i’m sure that there was more to it than that.
We never had those accelerated reading tests, they gave us Iowa tests for a week every year though. I have no idea if they even still have those, i’d be surprised as fuck if they did with all the technology kids have in school today that we never did. They gave you a booklet that they would shoot you if you wrote in and an answer sheet that was all those annoying as fuck circles that you had to fill in. I never understood it either but apparently they would cut your balls off if you used anything but a number 2 pencil. We had never seen any other kind of pencil back then, so why they made such a big deal about it is beyond me. It’s not like they’re were a batch of number 1’s making their way around the school, fuckin up all the Iowa tests and shit, would’ve been funny if there was though.
